Synopsis

Tata Ace mini truck aka Chota Hathi has been India’s most popular four-wheeler cargo carrier for over 17 years. It emerged as the winning commercial vehicle in recent times and also revolutionized the cargo/logistics/supply chain in India. It has remained at the top of its segment for over a decade now and several reasons attribute to its success and popularity. Compact size, futuristic design, promised superior mileage, comfort and overall ownership experience. Over the years, Tata has kept its initial Ace characteristics through all the refinements in the making of Ace Gold and all its later variants.

Ace Gold can be the best choice for people looking for a vehicle to help their daily logistics, cargo, e-commerce, market load or any other shipping needs. Tata has made Ace Gold available in three variants namely Petrol, Diesel and CNG and the latest addition to the Ace Petrol family are Ace Gold CX.

Ace Gold arrives with a gross vehicle weight of 1615 kg and a kerb weight of 865 kg. The overall dimensions of the Ace Gold (unladen) are 3800mm in length, 1500mm in width, and 1840mm in height with a ground clearance of 160mm. It stands with a 7.2 feet long load body with a fuel tank capacity of 26 litres.

Car-like interior of the Ace Gold is spacious and provides proper convenience to the driver’s needs. And the steering wheel ensures an optimal ride experience without fatigue, and Tata has manufactured the Ace Gold with truck-type aggregations that include an advanced axle and transmission. The standard driver’s seat is adjustable and equipped with an armrest. It comes with certain features such as a digital instrument cluster, a big glove compartment, a USB charger and some additional features such as driver information display and telematics are added as well.

As discussed above, Ace Gold comes in three fuel options, and the Ace Gold Diesel gets a 700cc 2-cylinder naturally aspirated DI engine churning out 20 HP max power and 45 Nm max torque. The Diesel variant has decent acceleration capabilities while climbing inclines with load and has a 27.5% gradeability.

The Ace Gold Petrol houses a 694cc Tata 275 Gasoline MPFI 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, water-cooled BS6 petrol engine that produces a max power of 30 HP and a maximum torque of 55 Nm. The petrol engine has higher acceleration capabilities with a 30% gradeability. Tata has equipped Ace Gold Petrol with a gear-shift advisor and eco switch for high fuel efficiency.

A water-cooled multi-point gas injection engine powers the 3rd variant of the Ace Gold. The 694cc CNG engine churns out 26 HP of maximum power and a maximum torque of 50 Nm. The acceleration capabilities of the CNG variant are also pretty decent, but the payload capacity is quite lesser compared to the other two.

Tata Ace Gold is offered with a parabolic leaf spring front suspension and a semi-elliptical leaf spring rear suspension. The braking duties are handled by a disc (C51 Caliper) in the front and (200mm dia. * 30mm) drum in the rear. The 145-R12 LT 8PR radial type tubeless tyres enhance gripping and braking resistance in every road condition, essential additions like parking brakes and seat belts are also provided.

Tata offers Ace Gold in two colour options; Irish Cream and Arctic White. The ex-showroom price of the Tata Ace Gold in Delhi is around Rs 4-6 lakh, depending on the variant. As for the competitors, Mahindra Jeeto, Maruti Suzuki Super Carry, Piaggio Porter 700, Ashok Leyland Dost Strong, Mahindra Supro Profit Truck Maxi, and Mahindra Supro Mini truck are all major rivals to Tata Ace Gold.
