The last batch of the Rapid was produced with a matte effect, and it will be replaced by the new Skoda Slavia. The Rapid was a significant model for Skoda, selling over 118,000 units in India. I believe this is a sad goodbye to a car that offered great performance, comfort, and reliability.

In 2020, Skoda updated the Rapid with a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the older 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engines due to BS6 emission norms. This new engine produced 110PS and 175Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, and later a 6-speed automatic was also introduced. I think this update was a good move to keep the Rapid competitive, but it lacked the punch of the older diesel engine.

In 2016, the Skoda Rapid received a significant update aligning with the new Skoda design language, making it look like a baby Octavia. This update included new exterior and interior design elements, along with additional features like projector headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels for the higher trims. I think this update gave the Rapid a fresh and appealing look.
