General information and overview

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, built at Chakan for India, is a fifth-generation executive sedan spanning three variants: E200 with 2.0L turbo-petrol (201 bhp), E220d 2.0L diesel (194 bhp), and E450 4MATIC 3.0L straight-six petrol (375 bhp), all paired with 9-speed automatics for seamless shifts. Its hallmark is the India-exclusive long wheelbase boosting rear space with reclining seats, thigh extensions, neck pillows, and electric sunblinds, ideal for chauffeured comfort on our roads. The hyperscreen setup integrates controls brilliantly, backed by ADAS for safety, while the suspension handles potholes masterfully after local testing in Pune and Chennai. Deliveries for E200 start now, E220d by Diwali, E450 mid-November—rivaling BMW 5 Series with superior luxury, it's my go-to for buyers prioritizing refinement, tech, and presence in business or family use.

Against BMW 5 Series LWB, it wins on space and tech; perfect for executives valuing comfort, status, and reliability in a Rs 78.5-92.5 lakh ex-showroom package that promises low ownership hassles and strong resale.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the 2025 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB to be the pinnacle of executive luxury in India, blending opulent rear-seat comfort with cutting-edge technology that makes every drive feel effortless and premium. With its extended wheelbase crafted specifically for our market, I appreciate the generous legroom, reclining seats up to 36 degrees, extendable thigh supports, and electric sunblinds, turning long highway journeys from Pune to Mumbai into pure relaxation. The superscreen infotainment dominates the cabin, offering intuitive controls and MBUX intelligence that anticipates my needs, while the ride quality over our pothole-ridden roads remains supremely composed thanks to advanced suspension tuning tested across India. Powertrains shine too—the E200's 2.0L petrol is smooth for city runs, the E220d diesel delivers effortless torque for efficiency, and the E450 4MATIC's 3.0L straight-six unleashes thrilling performance without compromising refinement. Against the BMW 5 Series LWB, it edges ahead in rear space and tech sophistication, justifying the premium for buyers seeking status, safety, and serenity. If luxury sedans define success in India, I recommend the E-Class wholeheartedly for its unmatched blend of innovation and indulgence that elevates daily commutes and business travel.

I find the 2025 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB to be an exceptional executive sedan that elevates luxury driving in India with its refined blend of technology, comfort, and performance. The E200 petrol at Rs 78.5 lakh ex-showroom offers smooth 2.0L turbo power paired with a 9-speed automatic, delivering effortless highway cruising ideal for our congested cities and long drives. The massive hyperscreen infotainment integrates everything seamlessly, while safety features like advanced driver assists provide peace of mind on unpredictable Indian roads. Compared to the BMW 5 Series LWB, it edges ahead in rear space and opulence, justifying the slight premium. Production at Chakan ensures quick deliveries—E200 this week, E220d by Diwali—and it's tailored for right-hand drive India. For buyers seeking prestige without excess, this E-Class delivers unmatched value, blending cutting-edge innovation with timeless elegance that makes every journey feel special.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been launched in India, with the E 350 and E 450 models available, both featuring mild hybrid technology and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The E 350 is expected to start at around Rs. 62 lakh, while the E 450 is priced from approximately Rs. 68 lakh. I think these prices make it a compelling option in the luxury sedan segment.
November 14, 2024
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the MBUX Superscreen in the 2024 E-Class, which combines a 12.3-inch passenger-side touchscreen with a 14.4-inch center touchscreen under a single pane of glass. This feature enhances the cars tech-forward interior and provides a seamless user experience. I believe this is a significant upgrade that will appeal to tech-savvy buyers.
October 25, 2024
The new E-Class features advanced driver aids, including Pre-Safe, Pre-Safe Sound, forward-collision warning, and semi-autonomous automatic parking assistance. These features are part of a comprehensive safety package that aims to prevent accidents and protect occupants. I think these safety features are a major selling point for the E-Class.
October 16, 2024
Mercedes-Benz has discontinued the standard wheelbase version of the E-Class in India, offering only the long-wheelbase (LWB) variant, similar to the BMW 5 Series. This move is expected to enhance passenger comfort and space, particularly in the rear seats. I believe this decision will make the E-Class more competitive in the luxury sedan market.
September 21, 2024
The 2024 E-Class boasts a redesigned exterior with sleek aerodynamic lines and reduced wind noise, thanks to the use of nearly 500 microphones to measure and diminish noise. This attention to detail enhances the overall driving experience. I think the new design will appeal to those looking for a blend of style and comfort.

Pricing details and changes

In India, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB starts at Rs 78.50 lakh ex-showroom for the E200 petrol, Rs 81.50 lakh for the E220d diesel, and Rs 92.50 lakh for the E450 4MATIC, reflecting recent GST cuts that slashed prices by up to Rs 6 lakh, making it more accessible in this segment. On-road prices vary by city due to taxes, insurance, and registration—for instance, E200 around Rs 90.49-98 lakh in Mumbai or Delhi, E220d at Rs 95-1.05 Cr, and E450 pushing Rs 1.07-1.15 Cr in metros like Bangalore or Chennai, with premiums in places like Kochi hitting Rs 1.16 Cr. I view this pricing as a smart buy in the luxury sedan space; the ex-showroom base is just Rs 2.5 lakh above the old model and competitive against the BMW 5 Series LWB starting lower, but the E-Class's superior rear luxury and India-specific LWB tuning deliver better value for chauffeur-driven owners. Discounts from GST 2.0 enhance affordability, and with production at Chakan ensuring ready supply, I advise budgeting 15-20% over ex-showroom for on-road realities—opt for the E220d if balancing cost and efficiency, as it offers the best ownership proposition without skimping on prestige.

In India, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB comes in three variants with ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 78.5 lakh for the E200 petrol, Rs 81.5 lakh for the E220d diesel (recently adjusted to Rs 80.41 lakh in some listings post-GST cuts), and Rs 92.5 lakh (or Rs 91.66 lakh) for the potent E450 4MATIC petrol. On-road prices vary by city due to RTO, insurance, and taxes—for instance, E200 is around Rs 90.49 lakh in general estimates, Rs 89.99 lakh in Delhi, Rs 91.78 lakh in Mumbai, Rs 96.73 lakh in Bangalore, and up to Rs 99.79 lakh in Kochi. The E220d on-road hits Rs 95.98 lakh average or Rs 95.69 lakh in Delhi, while E450 reaches Rs 1.07 crore typically, Rs 1.06 crore in Delhi, or Rs 1.13 crore in Bangalore. Recent GST reductions brought savings up to Rs 6 lakh, making it more accessible against the BMW 5 Series starting lower but shorter on LWB luxury. I see this pricing as smart—entry E200 offers 90% of the experience for buyers watching budgets, while the premium on E450 pays off in power and AWD for wet monsoons. Factor in low depreciation and high resale in India's luxury market; it's a solid investment for long-term ownership without breaking the bank upfront.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

In Indian conditions, I note the E-Class petrol variants like E200 and E450 deliver 10-12 kmpl in mixed city-highway use, while the E220d diesel impresses at 14-16 kmpl, keeping running costs reasonable for a luxury sedan at Rs 4-6/km on diesel versus Rs 8-10/km on petrol. For mileage-focused buyers, choose the E220d—its torque suits our traffic, minimizing fuel stops on long drives, and lower diesel prices make it the savvy pick over rivals for cost-conscious luxury.
December 22, 2025
In India, the E-Class prioritizes luxury over efficiency, with E200 petrol around 10-12 kmpl city and 15-18 kmpl highway, E220d diesel better at 12-14 kmpl city and 18-22 kmpl highway, and thirsty E450 at 8-10 kmpl city. Running costs suit high-income buyers, as diesel edges savings on fuel (Rs 90/litre diesel vs Rs 100/litre petrol) and longevity, but expect Rs 2-3/km total ownership with servicing at Rs 50,000 yearly. Opt for E220d if mileage concerns you—it's the practical choice for 20,000km annual runs without compromising prestige.

Overview

Finally, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the much-awaited 2014 E-Class in India today (25th June, 2013). Mercedes E-Class is a pure exhibit of power and outstanding strength. The all-new front grille along with the prominent head lamps add up to the sleek styling of the car. The front bumper and huge Mercedes logo are also the part of the marked and elegant styling of the car. The extra-long wheelbase of the car is a reflection of the spaciousness of the car. The wheels of the car now sports all-new alloy wheels and have an aura of strength. The interior of the car is very comfortable and elegantly designed. The cabin space is spacious and very lavishly done. The decorative dashboard adornments, beautiful door panels and the fine wood used makes the interior very enticing.

The ventilation outlets integrated in the wood with style add up to the charisma of the car. The ride of the Mercedes E-Class is very smooth and exhilarating because of the aerodynamics and smooth steering and suspension. The assistance systems for driving and controls make everything very accessible to the driver. The adaptive brake system with HOLD function, Attention Assist drowsiness detection system and Parktronic parking aid are parts of safety features. The airbags provide protection against impact injuries. Protection in cases of accidents comes in the form of safety passenger compartments, knee bags for the driver and passengers, cash-responsive head-restraints and standard active bonnet. 2014 Mercedes E-Class is available in three variants: E200 CGi Petrol, E220 CDi Diesel and E220 CDi Limited Edition. Prices start from INR 41.50 lakhs for the petrol variant and goes up to 49.90 lakhs for the limited edition diesel variant.

Mercedes E-Class Exterior

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has gone through a face-lift. Its revamped exterior design is improved with its high-tech features and updated locomotives. The roofline, front doors, and windows have also been redesigned with a more sophisticated look that is intended to capture the attention of car lovers in a glance. The advanced features of this vehicle are unmatched. It comes with a night vision assistant that helps drivers detect cyclists, pedestrians and also approaching traffic. The active light assistant that depends on adaptive HID technology has been shifted to advanced, active LED pixels that are powerful enough to redirect the light rays away from looming traffic.

Mercedes E-Class Interior

The Mercedes E-Class cabin keeps adequate Mercedes-style interior space to make it comfy for passengers. The seat controls are located on the door panels while the heating and cooling consoles are at the bottommost of the center stack to make it easier for passengers to locate them whenever necessary. The tones are made darker with a touch of timber shade. All cases in the cabin display a chic and sleek Mercedes touch. The dashboards in all Mercedes E-Class models are almost the same so there is no need to adjust for those who have been used to the dashboard design of other models in this segment. The three-gauge instrument cluster which has been there for most of the previous models has been superseded by a set of five analogue devices. All gauges are remarkably readable at a glimpse. In addition to these, the E-Class dashboard comes with a command system that is installed at the front and center part of the control stack.

The command system is made up of a seven-inch color display screen that comes with a Bluetooth interface and six-disc CD/DVD changer that lets people to connect to the player via phone or any other compatible device. Using a point-and-click control at the center stack, this tool can be used by either the driver or front passenger to change the volume and control other audio video functions. It also shows an optional map reading screen, a standby camera image, and night vision ultraviolet display plus climate controls so passengers can adjust the temperature anytime. When it comes to comfort, the Mercedes E-Class sedan front seats are quite supportive combined with sport-inspired seats which are also found in the Cabriolet and Coupe versions. Passengers can adjust their seats as well as the steering wheel height according to their preference. The sporty steering wheel is quite enticing as it is covered in stitched leather, with switches to control most functions inside the vehicle. The new gear selector for this model looks a lot like the one from the previous model but it comes with well-shaped blades behind the steering-wheel shafts for manual gear option.

Engine and Gearbox

Mercedes E-Class has two engine options: 2.0 litre petrol and 2.2 litre diesel. The petrol model generates maximum power of 184 Bhp at 5500 rpm with maximum torque of 300 Nm at1200 rpm. It takes about 7.9 seconds to cross the 100 kmph mark. The diesel model develops maximum power of 204 Bhp at 4200 rpm with maximum torque of 500 Nm at 1600 rpm. It takes about 7.5 seconds to cross the 100 kmph mark. Both the engines are mated to 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Safety Features

Safety features are always present on all Mercedes-Benz car models so the E-Class is not an exception. In addition to the ESP stability control and automatic brakes system, this vehicle comes with a total of nine additional restraints as well as front air bags, knee air bags and pelvic air bags that all work together with curtain and side air bags to give extra care for front passengers in case of an accident. The attention assist system is also present in the Mercedes E-Class model that alerts the driver in case the car detects signs of drowsiness. This feature is said to prevent more than a hundred thousand accidents per year as the steering sensor comes with a whiz type of software that uses 70 parameters to create a unique driver record during the first 20 minutes of driving. Amid 50 and 112 miles per hour, the system will identify if there are inconsistent steering movements from the driver which is a common sign among drowsy people.

This triggers a loud voice warning saying, "Time for a Rest?" plus a coffee cup indicator that glows in the instrument cluster. Customers can add optional safety equipment such as the Lane Keeping Assist system. This feature alerts the driver by mimicking a rocky strip vibration in the steering wheel in case the vehicle drifts from its current lane without using the turn signals. Included in the Lane Tracking Package is a feature that recognizes lane markings when the car is driven with speeds above 37 miles per hour. The small camera installed in the windshield plus the minute computer analyses the video images and helps the system detect unusual driving movements. The Blind Spot Assist is another helpful feature that customers can add to help detect blind spots at the lateral and rear parts of the vehicle. The system gives audible warnings whenever a blind spot is detected so the driver can avoid accidents.

Verdict

All Mercedes E-Class models are made with excellence but what really makes it standout are its unique features such as the clean-burning turbo engine that offers better emissions without compromising speed. It is packed with safety functions and comfort features to make passengers at ease even during long travels so definitely, Mercedes E-Class is worth its market price.
