Maserati GranTurismo
Maserati Model
General information and overview
I see the Maserati GranTurismo as a 2+2 grand tourer epitomizing luxury and speed for Indian roads, powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 (Modena: 483 hp; Trofeo: 550 hp) mated to an 8-speed automatic, hitting top speeds over 300 kmph. Available in 2-3 variants priced ₹2.25-2.90 crore ex-showroom, it features a sculpted aluminium body, 20-inch wheels, adaptive dampers for supple yet grippy dynamics, and a cabin boasting Alcantara, 18-way seats, and advanced tech like ADAS and wireless charging. In India, its 5-seater layout suits long hauls from Bangalore to Goa, with boot space for weekend escapes, though narrow service reach in metros requires imported parts foresight. Competitors like Aston Martin DB12 lag in value; I view it as the buy for those seeking visceral Ferrari-esque power in a more accessible Italian package, backed by 3-year warranty—ideal if your drives prioritize adrenaline over economy.
Expert opinion and recommendation
I find the Maserati GranTurismo an exhilarating grand tourer that masterfully blends Italian flair with ferocious performance, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts craving uncompromised driving thrills in India. Its twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine in Modena and Trofeo variants delivers 483 to 550 horsepower, propelling it from 0-100 kmph in under 4 seconds, with a sonorous exhaust note that turns heads on Mumbai's coastal drives or Delhi's boulevards. The handling is razor-sharp thanks to adaptive suspension and rear-wheel drive, offering poise through ghat sections while the opulent leather-lined cabin pampers with 12.3-inch infotainment and premium Sonus Faber audio. In India's premium segment, it outshines rivals like the Bentley Continental in raw engagement, though service network limitations demand planning. Fuel thirst and high import duties aside, I recommend it for those prioritizing passion over practicality—it's a status symbol that rewards spirited ownership with lifelong memories on open highways.
Recent news and announcements
The 2025 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, the electric version of the GranTurismo, has been praised for its blistering performance, with a combined 818 horsepower from its trio of electric motors. This makes it quicker than its gasoline-powered counterparts. The Folgore also features a torque-vectoring system, enhancing its handling. I think this electric variant could be a game-changer for Maserati in the luxury EV market.
Maserati has introduced a limited edition PrimaSerie of the GranTurismo to celebrate 75 years of grand touring. This special edition is expected to be highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. The PrimaSerie comes with unique design elements and exclusive features, making it a standout in the GranTurismo lineup.
The 2025 Maserati GranTurismo retains its striking exterior design and richly appointed interior from the previous year. It features a Nettuno twin-turbocharged V-6 engine in two states of tune, with the more powerful version producing 542 horsepower. The car also comes with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. I believe the blend of comfort and athleticism makes this car a compelling choice for luxury car buyers.
Maseratis GranTurismo Folgore has been tested on twisty roads north of Rome, showcasing its impressive acceleration and handling. Despite being on winter tires, the car demonstrated a fun and engaging driving experience, especially in the aggressive Corsa drive mode. This electric GranTurismo is set to compete strongly in the luxury sports car segment.
The pricing for the 2025 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has been announced, starting at $193,995, which translates to approximately Rs. 1.6 crore in India. The Folgore comes in a single, generously equipped model with sustainable interior materials and advanced tech features. This places it in a competitive position against other luxury electric sports cars.
Pricing details and changes
I note the Maserati GranTurismo's ex-showroom prices in India start at ₹2.25 crore for the base 4.7 V8 variant, climbing to ₹2.51 crore for higher trims like the MC, with newer Modena and Trofeo models listed around ₹2.72-2.90 crore ex-showroom as per recent launches. On-road figures vary by city: in Delhi, expect ₹3.18-3.39 crore including RTO, insurance, and taxes; Mumbai around ₹2.65-2.96 crore; Bangalore ₹2.77-3.09 crore; and Thane approximately ₹2.60 crore for the base. These premiums stem from 100% import duties on luxury coupes, pushing ownership costs skyward, yet they reflect exclusivity in a market flooded with German sedans. As a buyer, weigh the prestige against alternatives like the Ferrari Roma—financing at 9-10% interest spreads the burden, but resale holds strong due to rarity; I advise negotiating dealer packages for free servicing to offset initial outlay, ensuring this investment delivers joy proportional to its steep price tag.
Fuel efficiency information
I observe the GranTurismo's ARAI-rated 14 kmpl on its 3.0-litre V6, but real-world city driving in India yields 6-8 kmpl amid traffic, highways up to 10-11 kmpl. Running costs soar with premium fuel at ₹110/litre and 15-20% annual service bills over ₹5 lakh; for mileage-focused buyers, it's impractical—opt for hybrids if efficiency trumps thrill, as fuel alone could exceed ₹2 lakh monthly for heavy use.
