About
The Maruti SX4 is a mid-size sedan that was designed to offer a blend of comfort, performance, and fuel efficiency. It came with a range of engine options, including a 1.3L turbo diesel and a 1.6L petrol engine. The diesel variant, in particular, was praised for its refinement and drivability, although it lacked a bit of punch at lower RPMs. The SX4 featured a manual transmission and was available in various trims, including the VDI and ZDI, with the latter offering leather upholstery. The car is known for its stable and grippy handling, both in city traffic and on highways, making it a reliable choice for daily commuting. The interiors were updated in the 2013 facelift, offering better fit and finish, and the exterior design, though not revolutionary, has aged gracefully. Overall, the SX4 is a solid, practical sedan that, despite its discontinuation, remains a viable option for those in the market for a used car.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti SX4, although it has been discontinued, left a notable mark in the Indian automotive market. From my perspective, this sedan offered a compelling blend of style, performance, and fuel efficiency. The 2013 facelift brought significant improvements, including enhanced exteriors and interiors, along with better fuel economy. However, the SX4 never quite achieved the sales success Maruti Suzuki had hoped for, particularly in the higher price segments. Despite this, it remains a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and feature-packed sedan, especially considering its robust diesel engine and comfortable ride. The lack of a significant punch at lower RPMs in the diesel variant is a minor drawback, but overall, the SX4 is a well-rounded vehicle that could satisfy many buyers needs.
Price
The Maruti SX4 was priced competitively in the Indian market, with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs. 7.15 lakh to Rs. 9.54 lakh, depending on the variant. For instance, the SX4 ZDI, which was one of the top models, was priced at around Rs. 8.98 lakh ex-showroom, while the SX4 ZDI Leather variant was priced at Rs. 9.54 lakh. On-road prices would typically add another Rs. 1-2 lakh, including taxes, registration, and other costs. Given its features and performance, the SX4 offered good value for money, especially when compared to other sedans in its class. However, the pricing strategy did not seem to resonate well with Indian buyers, who often prefer more affordable options.

The Maruti Suzuki SX4, although discontinued, had a sport-oriented variant known as the SX4 SportBack in its earlier generations. This model featured a lowered sport-tuned suspension, a body kit, and a rear spoiler, giving it a more aggressive look. I think this kind of sporty trim would still appeal to many car enthusiasts today.

In the past, the SX4 received updates that included new design elements such as a restructured cargo hold and arena seating raised rear seat layout. These changes were part of the 2010 facelift, which also added new rear skid plates for non-fleet all-wheel-drive models. I believe such practical updates would have made the SX4 a more compelling choice in its segment.

The SX4 was discontinued in India and replaced by the Ciaz, which was positioned as a more premium offering. Despite this, the SX4 remains a memorable model for its blend of style, performance, and practicality. I think theres still a market for a car like the SX4, especially if its updated with modern features.

The SX4 was available with various transmission options, including a six-speed manual and a four-speed automatic, as well as a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters.
