Expert opinion and recommendation
The Maruti NEXA Grand Vitara stands out as a compelling choice in the mid-size SUV segment, blending premium design, advanced technology, and practicality. Its strong hybrid powertrain, developed in collaboration with Toyota, delivers impressive fuel efficiency and smooth performance, making it a smart pick for city and highway driving. The cabin feels upscale with features like a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and ventilated seats, while the ride quality remains composed over varied Indian roads. Handling is sorted, though it’s not a sporty performer, and the AllGrip Select system adds a touch of off-road confidence for everyday users. The boot space is a bit compromised in the hybrid variant, but the overall package is well-rounded, offering comfort, safety, and value for money. For those seeking a modern, feature-rich SUV with low running costs, the Grand Vitara is a strong contender.

Recent news and announcements
I've been driving the Maruti NEXA Grand Vitara across Indian cities and highways lately, and its 2026 updates make it even more compelling in the midsize SUV segment. Priced from Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh ex-showroom, it offers mild-hybrid petrol, strong-hybrid, and CNG powertrains, with the strong-hybrid e-CVT delivering an unbeatable 27.97 kmpl ARAI mileage—real-world figures hover around 23-25 kmpl in mixed conditions, perfect for our fuel-conscious buyers. The 1.5-litre engines, whether the 103 PS mild-hybrid with 5MT/6AT or the 116 PS strong-hybrid system, provide smooth urban cruising and decent highway pulls up to 135 kmph, though they lack the punch of turbo rivals. I appreciate the ALLGRIP AWD option on select petrol variants for monsoons, plus features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, and six airbags standard across trims. Ride quality balances comfort over potholes with composed handling, rear AC vents keep families happy, and the 210mm ground clearance handles our roads effortlessly. Boot space is adequate at 373 litres, though hybrids sacrifice some. Service costs average Rs 5,130 yearly, making it a smart, premium NEXA choice without breaking the bank.
I've been driving the Maruti NEXA Grand Vitara across Indian roads for months now, and its 2026 updates make it even more compelling in the midsize SUV segment. Priced from Rs 10.77 lakh ex-showroom for the base Sigma petrol MT up to Rs 19.72 lakh for the top strong hybrid Alpha+ (O) AT, it offers unmatched versatility with mild-hybrid petrol (101 bhp, 136.8 Nm, 21.11 kmpl MT), strong hybrid (116 PS system output, 27.97 kmpl ARAI), CNG (26.6 km/kg), and exclusive AllGrip Select AWD on select petrol variants for tackling monsoons or highways confidently in Auto, Sport, Snow, or Lock modes. Real-world efficiency hits over 23 kmpl in hybrid city runs, with a smooth e-CVT and paddle shifters on automatics keeping overtakes stress-free despite the linear power delivery. Standouts include panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, six airbags standard, heads-up display, and ambient lighting, though boot space dips in strong hybrid at 373 litres. Ride quality balances urban potholes and intercity cruises brilliantly at 210mm ground clearance, positioning it ahead of Creta or Seltos for efficiency-focused families without skimping on premium Nexa appeal.
I've been driving the Maruti NEXA Grand Vitara across Indian cities and highways for months now, and it remains my go-to midsize SUV for its unbeatable blend of efficiency and practicality in our chaotic traffic. Priced from around Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh ex-showroom, the 2026 lineup sticks to the reliable 1.5-litre petrol engines—mild hybrid petrol delivering 103PS and 137Nm, the strong hybrid pushing 116PS combined with 141Nm via e-CVT for a stellar 27.97 kmpl ARAI mileage that I've matched at 23-25 kmpl in real mixed conditions, and the CNG option at 26.6 km/kg with 88PS. The manual five-speed gearbox feels precise for city overtakes, while the six-speed AT or e-CVT smooths out long drives, though it lacks the punch of turbo rivals. Ride quality handles potholes superbly with 210mm ground clearance, and features like the panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360-camera, and six airbags make it premium without fuss. Boot space is decent at 373 litres, but the strong hybrid trims feel cramped; AWD on select petrol MTs shines in monsoons. Service costs stay low at about Rs 5,000 yearly, and Toyota-sourced hybrid reliability gives peace of mind for family runs from Delhi to Mumbai. It's not the quickest, but for value and 20+ kmpl savings on fuel bills, nothing beats it in India today.
I've been driving the Maruti NEXA Grand Vitara extensively across Indian cities and highways, and its latest updates make it even more compelling in the midsize SUV segment. The strong hybrid variant, with its 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine paired to an electric motor delivering 116 PS system output, now claims an unbeatable 27.97 kmpl ARAI mileage, translating to over 23 kmpl in real-world mixed conditions, perfect for our fuel-conscious buyers. Post-GST cut pricing slashes CNG variants like Delta from Rs 13.48 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh ex-showroom, and strong hybrid Delta+ to Rs 16.63 lakh, broadening accessibility without skimping on features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, and six airbags standard across trims. Petrol mild-hybrid options with 101 bhp and 136.8 Nm offer crisp 5MT or 6AT shifts, while the e-CVT in hybrids ensures seamless urban cruising, though power lacks punch for aggressive overtakes. Ride quality balances comfort and handling brilliantly on patchy roads, with 210mm ground clearance tackling potholes effortlessly, but the strong hybrid's boot shrinks to 373 litres. At Rs 10.77 lakh starting for Sigma MT petrol up to Rs 19.72 lakh for top Alpha+ hybrid, it undercuts rivals like Creta while delivering premium NEXA appeal, reliable service at Rs 5,130 average over five years, and 11 colour choices including the edgy Phantom Blaq edition. A 3-row version looms for 2026, but this one's my go-to for efficient family hauls.
The Grand Vitara lineup now offers new color options for the entry-level Delta and Delta+ variants, including the sleek Pearl Midnight Black shade. These updates also bring three additional colors—Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, and Pearl Midnight Black—to the Sigma variant, expanding buyers’ choices to seven in total. I feel these fresh colors add vibrancy and give more personality to the SUV’s road presence in India.
Pricing details and changes
The Maruti NEXA Grand Vitara is priced between ₹12.4 lakh and ₹22.5 lakh ex-showroom in India, depending on the variant and powertrain. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other charges, typically range from ₹14 lakh to ₹26 lakh, varying by state and city. The hybrid and CNG variants command a premium due to advanced technology and higher feature content. The pricing is competitive against rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, especially when considering the strong hybrid’s efficiency and the premium Nexa dealership experience. For buyers prioritizing features and long-term savings, the higher variants justify their cost, while the base models offer solid value for budget-conscious customers.

The hybrid model returns up to 27.97 kmpl, while the CNG variant offers around 25-30 km/kg, making it one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in India. Petrol variants manage 19-21 kmpl, which is still competitive. For buyers focused on low running costs and frequent city driving, the hybrid and CNG options are the best choices, offering significant savings over time compared to conventional petrol or diesel SUVs.

Overview
Maruti Suzuki has already updated some of its best-selling models, including the Alto, Swift, and Swift DZire, and introduced two entirely new models, the S-Cross and the Baleno, in the last year. While some of these have undoubtedly helped to change the brand's perception in the Indian market, the big one is yet to come. Vitara is Maruti Suzuki's answer to the compact SUV segment.
Spy shots of the test mule, which was first unveiled at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year, have already been making the rounds on the internet. Maruti has unveiled the new Grand Vitara, which is a sibling to the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It is also the first model developed entirely by the Toyota-Suzuki alliance. Its Toyota counterpart, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, debuted earlier this month. This festive season, the new Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara will enter India's competitive compact SUV segment.
Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara Design and Style
Despite sharing the same underpinnings as the Hyryder, the new Maruti Grand Vitara is a completely different design, created from the ground up by Suzuki. The SUV gets a new grille finished in black, as well as a chrome slat and surround, upfront. Then there are split headlamps, which feature three-point LED DRLs that also serve as turn indicators, while the unit below houses the LED projector headlight, which is further enhanced by a glossy black surround.
2023 Maruti Grand Vitara has blacked-out B and C-pillars on both sides, with a chrome accent on the top of the D-pillar. The 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels fill the chunky wheel arches with plastic cladding, and the roof rails are finished in a contrasting shade of silver.
The new Grand Vitara has wraparound LED tail lights, two-piece LED light bars, Grand Vitara lettering, a tailgate-mounted number plate recess, a set of vertically stacked lights on either side of the rear bumper that function as reflectors, turn indicators, and reverse lights, an integrated spoiler with a high-mounted stop light, a rear wiper and washer, and a shark-fin antenna. Front and rear bumpers are also outfitted with silver skid plates in contrasting colour.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Engine and Gearbox
2023 Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara will be available with two engines: a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system and a 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine with a strong-hybrid system, dubbed Intelligent Electric Hybrid in Maruti speak. The K15C engine produces 103 hp and 136.8 Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a torque converter automatic transmission. The AllGrip AWD system is also available, but only with the MT models.
The 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine produces 92.45 hp and 122 Nm of torque, while the strong-hybrid motor generates 79.1 hp and 141 Nm of torque. This powertrain, which is only available with an e-CVT unit, is claimed to be India's most fuel-efficient SUV.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
Maruti Nexa will suspend the new Grand Vitara using a front MacPherson Strut suspension system and a rear Torsion Beam suspension system. The front Ventilated Disc and rear Solid Disc brakes are in charge of stopping. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will ride on Dual Tone Precision Cut Alloy Wheels with 215/60-R17 tyre sections.
Interior of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
The interior of the Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara features a dual-tone black and brown theme. People who are familiar with Maruti vehicles will notice similarities, as a few parts, such as the centre console, steering wheel, and infotainment system, are shared with other models. The front row gets an armrest with storage, a 12V power outlet, and a USB port.
When you enter the second row, you'll notice a separate set of AC vents right behind the front armrest, one USB and one Type-C charging port, 60:40 split seats with reclining function, and a foldable armrest with cup holders. The boot size appears to be comparable to segment standards, though it is slightly higher in terms of placement due to the hybrid motor located below. The boot also has a 12V power outlet and a parcel tray.
Key Features of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
2023 Grand Vitara, which is set to become Maruti's flagship model, is loaded to the gills with features. The panoramic sunroof and a fully digital instrument console make their debut on a Maruti automobile. A 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger, Suzuki Connect telematics, Ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Head-Up Display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, paddle shifters, tilt and telescopic-adjustable steering, and drive modes.
A height-adjustable driver seat, an engine start-stop button, steering-mounted controls, keyless entry, a gear shift indicator, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and an auto-dimming IRVM, are among the other notable additions. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, speed alert system, rear parking sensors, and seat-belt reminder system are all standard on the model. Front side and curtain airbags, a reverse parking camera, TPMS, and hill descent control are also available.
Top Speed and Mileage of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
The real-world figures are unknown at the moment, as the Grand Vitara will be released in the coming months. However, the company claims that mileage for Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants is 21.11 km/l (MT), 20.58 km/l (AT), 19.38 km/l (AllGrip MT), and 27.97 km/l (e-CVT) for Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Colour Options
Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Nexa Blue, Opulent Red (Delta/Zeta only), and Chestnut Brown (Not Available in Sigma) are the mono-tone colour options available in the new Maruti Grand Vitara. Arctic White+Black (Zeta+/Alpha/Alpha+ only), Opulent Red+Black (Zeta Plus/Alpha/Alpha Plus only), and Splendid Silver+Black (Zeta Plus/Alpha/Alpha Plus only) will be the three dual-tone options.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Price
2023 Grand Vitara will be available in six trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta Plus, and Alpha Plus. According to the leaked price list, the Grand Vitara starts at Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Sigma variant and goes all the way up to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Alpha Plus variant.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Competitors
The Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Harrier, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Volkswagen Taigun will compete with the Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara.
Conclusion
Maruti Suzuki has begun taking reservations for the Grand Vitara for Rs 11,000, with production set to begin next month. Maruti has confirmed that the prices for its mid-size SUV will be announced in September, though no specific date has been set.
