Jaguar XF (2015)
Jaguar Model
General information and overview
The 2015 Jaguar XF is a midsize luxury sedan that combines distinctive British styling with a refined diesel powertrain, specifically the 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine delivering strong torque suited for Indian roads. It features a rear-wheel-drive layout paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission known for smooth upshifts, enhancing driving comfort and control. The interior emphasizes classic luxury with quality materials and comfortable seating for four adults, though rear headroom is marginal due to the fastback roofline. The cabin offers premium touches like full-LED headlights and responsive infotainment, although some internal tech lags behind newer models. Safety is addressed with multiple airbags and stability systems. Ride comfort is a highlight, with suspension calibrated to absorb rough urban roads and highway bumps effectively. The XF’s road presence, performance balance, and British heritage make it an appealing option for buyers seeking exclusivity and refined driving in the Indian luxury sedan market.

The 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission delivers strong performance and smooth driving dynamics, making it suitable for both city commutes and long highway journeys. The ride quality is plush, with excellent noise insulation and a well-tuned suspension that handles Indian roads well. Safety features include six airbags as standard, and the car comes with modern amenities like full-LED headlights and a premium audio system. While rear headroom is limited for taller passengers, the overall package is compelling for buyers seeking a luxury sedan with style and driving pleasure.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The 2015 Jaguar XF stands out in the Indian luxury sedan segment primarily due to its elegant styling and classic British charm that still hold an edge over many contemporaries. The build quality and interior ambiance feel premium, accommodating four adults comfortably with slightly tight space for the fifth occupant, especially in terms of rear headroom due to the sloping roofline. Driving the XF offers a refined experience with low noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels and a smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox that excels in upshifts and offers paddle shifters for spirited driving. The ride quality is supple, effectively absorbing road imperfections without compromising comfort. However, while the exterior and ride remain impressive, the cabin technology and interior design feel slightly dated compared to newer rivals, indicating room for an upgrade. Overall, the XF presents a compelling choice for buyers seeking a blend of performance, luxury, and distinctive style in the Indian market, especially with the 2.2-litre diesel variant which balances performance and efficiency well at its approximate price point.
The 2015 Jaguar XF stands out in India as a premium sedan that blends British elegance with strong performance and a comfortable ride. Its exterior design remains striking, offering a distinct presence on Indian roads, while the interior feels luxurious and well-built, though rear headroom is a bit tight for taller passengers. The driving experience is smooth, with the 2.2-litre diesel engine providing ample torque for city and highway use, and the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission delivers quick upshifts and responsive handling. The ride quality is plush, soaking up bumps well, and the car feels composed even on rough surfaces. While rivals may offer more space or slightly sharper engines, the XF’s blend of style, comfort, and driving dynamics makes it a compelling choice for those seeking a premium sedan with character. For buyers who value design and a refined experience over outright practicality, the 2015 XF remains a strong contender.
Recent news and announcements
In December 2015, Jaguar announced the end of the 2015 model year for the XF, marking the conclusion of the first generation of this luxury sedan. The 2015 XF was praised for its powerful engine options, including turbo four-cylinder, supercharged V-6, and V-8 engines. I think the variety of engines made it a compelling choice for different types of drivers.
In November 2015, Jaguar introduced the XFR-S model, which boasted a 550-hp V-8 engine, making it one of the most powerful versions of the XF. This model was part of the XFR performance line and included features like all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The XFR-S was a standout for its exceptional performance.
In October 2015, Jaguar highlighted the XFs advanced safety features, including a blind spot warning system and an updated backup camera. These additions enhanced the vehicles safety profile, making it a more attractive option for those prioritizing safety. I believe these features were a significant step forward in vehicle safety.
In August 2015, the XF received updates to its infotainment system, with the introduction of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. This move made the XF more appealing to tech-savvy buyers. The integration of these popular smartphone platforms was a welcome addition.
In June 2015, Jaguar emphasized the XFs luxurious interior, featuring high-quality materials and a spacious cabin. The vehicles interior design was praised for its elegance and comfort. I think the interior was one of the XFs strongest points.
Pricing details and changes
The 2015 Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel Luxury variant was priced around ₹51.5 lakh ex-showroom in major Indian metros like Delhi, with on-road prices nearing ₹59.6 lakh. Given the premium positioning and the segment, this price places the XF against competitors like the BMW 5-Series and Audi A6, where it competes well on style and exclusivity but can be perceived as expensive given the technology and space limitations inside. Buyers should anticipate additional costs related to luxury maintenance and fuel premium diesel. Despite this, the XF's pricing remains attractive for those valuing unique British design and driving dynamics that rival the German trio. The on-road price reflects the higher taxes and insurance premiums in India for luxury imports, making it essential to factor in running and ownership costs beyond just the upfront price.
The 2015 Jaguar XF was launched in India with an ex-showroom price starting around ₹49.50 lakhs, going up to approximately ₹51.52 lakhs for the 2.2-litre diesel variant in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. On-road prices, including taxes and registration, typically ranged between ₹57 lakhs and ₹59.63 lakhs depending on the city and additional options. This pricing positioned the XF as a premium offering, competing with other luxury sedans in its segment. The cost reflects the car’s high-end features, strong brand image, and imported status, making it a significant investment. While the price is on the higher side compared to some rivals, the XF justifies it with its unique styling, premium interior, and driving experience. Buyers should also factor in higher running and maintenance costs typical of luxury imports, which can impact long-term ownership expenses.
Fuel efficiency information
The Jaguar XF 2.2 diesel offers a mileage in the range of 14-16 km/l under Indian driving conditions, which is respectable for a luxury sedan with a big engine and rear-wheel drive. While not a segment leader in fuel efficiency, it balances adequate economy with good performance. For buyers concerned about running costs, the diesel variant is preferable over petrol options, but overall maintenance and fuel expenses remain on the higher side compared to mainstream sedans. This should be a consideration for those prioritizing mileage for daily usage in India.
The 2015 Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel delivers a real-world mileage of around 10-12 kmpl in mixed city and highway driving conditions in India. This is decent for a luxury sedan of its size and weight, but it falls short of some more efficient rivals. Fuel costs are higher due to the car’s premium nature and the price of diesel, so buyers concerned about running costs should consider this. The engine is smooth and responsive, but frequent city driving or aggressive use will reduce mileage further. For those prioritising low running costs, the XF may not be the most economical choice, but it offers a good balance of performance and efficiency for a luxury sedan.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Jaguar XF (2015)
Jaguar usually comes with a hefty price tag but the XF is one model which somewhat rolls shoulder to shoulder with a few of its lower-end rivals such as BMW-5 Series, Audi A6 and a Mercedes E-Class. It has not been long since Jaguar launched XF model in India and this is the model which increased the sales rate of Jaguar cars as it does not come with an exorbitant price tag unlike other models of the company.

It has not been long since Jaguar launched XF model in India and this is the model which increased the sales rate of Jaguar cars as it does not come with an exorbitant price tag unlike other models of the company.
Exterior
It took Jaguar months to come up with the design for XF model and the final product we must say is worth applause. It is said that the design of Jaguar XF has been taken from Jaguar flagship saloon XJ. The set of headlights installed to the new Jaguar XF are slimmer than the previous version and LED strips can be seen on either side of the lights. There are 3 air-dams which are present beneath the headlights which serve as the air outlets so that the engine stays cool throughout the time when the car is in motion. Two chrome fins cover the air-dams and these fins have been twisted in a stylish manner. The roof line has also been changed and the new one is much sleeker as well as aerodynamically ideal. Jaguar XF is fitted with 18’’ alloy tubeless wheels having 10 spokes in them. These tires have a high durability as well as traction control.
Interior
Once we enter the cabin of Jaguar XF, it is a totally new experience as the Servotronics steering wheel has been styled implicitly. There are other options in the cabin oriented towards infotainment and navigation. The whole cabin has been trimmed in the best possible manner and a new design has been given to the seats thus making them much more comfortable. Wood veneers have been elegantly used along with gleaming aluminium and both of these results in a modern-day look. Each and every component of the interiors displays high level of craftsmanship. The interiors are totally modern but still promise the same old Jaguar feel whenever we sit inside the cabin. The seats have been covered using soft-grain leather which enhances the level of comfort and style at the same time. These seats can be adjusted as per the convenience of the passenger and has loft arrangements as well. The dashboard of the car has been equipped with hallo illumination and it consists of features such as Jaguar Drive Selector Console, Electric Parking Brake, switch panels and the start-stop button. The saloon has a remarkable boot space of 510 litres altogether. Enough leg space is available for the driver as well as the passenger and Jaguar engineers have placed gear paddles at a considerable distance from the driver for utmost comfort.
Engine
Jaguar XF is available with three engine options: 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine, 5.0 litre super-charged V8 petrol engine and 2993cc, 4 cylinder diesel engine. The 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine generates maximum power of 380 Bhp with maximum torque of 461 Nm at 3500 rpm. The 5.0 litre super-charged V8 petrol engine develops maximum power of 510 bhp with maximum torque of 625 nm. The 2993cc, 4 cylinder diesel engine develops maximum power of 275 Bhp with maximum torque of 600 Nm.
Variants
Jaguar XF is available in three variants: XF V8 Petrol, XF Diesel and XFR featuring super-charged V8 petrol engine .
Mileage
There are a total of three variants of Jaguar XF out of which one variant is powered by a diesel engine, one is powered by petrol engine and the third one is powered by a supercharged engine. Before launching these models, Jaguar decided to go over the design of the car as well and made some interesting changes in the system for the sole purpose of increasing the fuel efficiency without affecting the power delivered by the engine. The diesel variant of Jaguar XF gives out a mileage of 8.7 km/L in city which goes up to 13.0 km/L on highways. On the contrary, the petrol engine variant gives out a mileage of 5.7 in city roads and 12.0 on highways. For supercharged engine, mileage is 5.5 for city roads and 10.5 for highways.
Safety Features
Jaguar has ensured that XF is laden with all the necessary safety features that are required including Jaguar smart-key system as per which; we can enter the car without a key. Additional features include pedestrian contact sensing, front-rear camera, remote-controlled central locking, ABS, EBD, Airbags, fog-lamps, etc.
Music System
Jaguar XF is equipped with a powerful 440W Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system which has a network of 14 speakers which are spread throughout the car. Additional features along with sound system include six-CD changer, MP3 compatibility and Portable audio interface. Bluetooth as well as telephone connectivity options are also there inside the cabin. A 7’’ touch-screen display has been made available as well.
Shades
There are a total of 15 colours in which Jaguar XF is available. These are British Racing Green, Polaris White, Rhodium Silver, Stratus Grey, Italian Racing Red, Ultimate Black and Kyanite Blue.
