Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel 4x4 (old model) is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and feature-rich SUV. From my experience, this vehicle offers a very planted and smooth drive, making it excellent for both highway and off-road adventures. The ride quality is commendable, especially on Indian roads, thanks to its well-tuned suspension. The engine performance is good, with a 2.2-litre CRDI engine that provides ample power and torque. However, there are some areas that could be improved, such as the rear view mirror at night, the stereo system, and the lack of height adjustment for the front passenger seat. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Santa Fe stands out for its spacious and comfortable interior, loaded with features like keyless start, auto lamps, and auto wipers. Its a great option for those looking for a family SUV that balances comfort, performance, and practicality.
Price
The Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel 4x4 (old model) was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the top model, the 4WD AT, was around Rs. 31.74 lakh. On-road prices, including taxes and other charges, would typically range from Rs. 35 lakh to Rs. 38 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Given the features and performance it offers, the Santa Fe is a good value for money, especially when compared to its competitors like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. However, its important to note that these prices are for the older models, and current market prices for used vehicles may vary.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 02:21 AM
The mileage of the Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel 4x4 is quite respectable, especially considering its size and capabilities. The automatic diesel variant offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 13.01 kmpl, while the manual diesel variant provides a slightly better 14.74 kmpl. In real-world driving conditions, you can expect to get around 11-12 kmpl, which is reasonable for a vehicle of this class. This makes the Santa Fe a viable option for those concerned about running costs, as it balances performance with decent fuel efficiency.

Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel 4x4 (Old Model) Discussion
Thanks Vicky, your input is of great use. How about the engine durability, is it better than japs and germans?
Santa Fe is the best SUV car present in India considering all aspects.
1. Engine: Its engine (2200cc) gives the best power and torque compare to all other SUVs in this segment. Its max Torque is 420Nm @1800rpm and Max. Power is 197bhp @3800rpm.Whereas Max. Torque of Toyota Fortuner (3000cc)-343Nm; Ford Endevour(2500cc)-330Nm; Mitsubishi Pajero(2850cc)-292Nm; Mitsubishi Montero(3200cc)-383Nm.
Even if we calculate the Max Torque of Petrol SUV and 2000cc Diesel SUV to compare with 2200cc diesel SUV, it would be greater in Santa Fe. Thus Santa Fe engine is more powerful than above SUVs and also than Mitsubishi Outlander, Chevrolet Captiva, Skoda Yeti, Honda CR-V and even 35lakhs Land Rover. Even greater cc engine(3000cc, 3700cc) or more priced car(like 40lakhs Hummer) can’t give 420Nm Torque. Santa Fe has minimum 50-100Nm more Max. Torque and also more Max. Power than all the above SUV Cars.
2. It is the safest car in its segment. It has 6 airbags and other safety features and also protect from frontal and side impacts.
3. Also it gives very comfortable ride and seats are awesome.
4. Though its engine is very powerful yet it gives very good mileage about 15kmpl which is great thing.
5. It has 18inch alloy wheels and its AC is also very good. It has also many other features.
6. Ex-showroom price of Santa Fe in Delhi for 2WD is Rs 20,95,000 and for 4WD is Rs 22,95,000.
So this is the best SUV car in this price range. Even paying more money like 30lakhs or 40lakhs we can’t get such a powerful and safest and comfortable SUV Car. If this would be other company’s car, then they would price it very high. Thanks to Hyundai that they bring such a car in India at a very reasonable price.
I just got myself a 2010 Hyundai Sta Fe 2 weeks ago, and I'd say that it beats all those Japanese-made SUVs, esp.when you talk about power, riding comfort, fuel efficiency, safety, leg room, etc. I have driven those Jap SUVs at one time of my life and Sta Fe so far is the best.
I travel once a week on rough roads, really rough roads(Cotabato) and what I could simply say is WOW! Problem of resale value? I have no intention of selling my Santa Fe. Maybe as 'pamana' to my next son. Maybe it's nice to accept the reality that Korean SUVs are getting at par (if not getting better) with Japanese ones.
Santa Fe looks good but it has a very awkward looking tail gate handle otherwise it is very powerful, 100 km/h comes up under 11 seconds.
FACT : FORTUNER ,GRAND VITARA,FORD ENDEAVOR, Mitsubishi OUTLANDER ARE WAY TO GOOD THAN THIS SANTA FE ,Basically its a Korean car an can never be better than a Japanese car.. So dont expect any thing .. Try an move up to a Japanese make ..Suzuki/maruti,Honda , Mitsubishi, nissan and Toyota ..as these cars company do a lot of research before they manufacture there cars. Hyundai cars are just copy of Japanese Car's.
