General information and overview
The Audi A4 represents a masterclass in balancing premium German engineering with practical everyday usability in the Indian market. This five-seater sedan combines crisp, sophisticated exterior styling with an exceptionally well-appointed cabin that immediately communicates quality and refinement. The 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine provides responsive performance with smooth acceleration characteristics, paired with a quick-shifting DCT transmission that enhances both efficiency and driving enjoyment. I particularly appreciate the comprehensive safety equipment, including six airbags and five-star Euro NCAP ratings, providing genuine peace of mind for Indian drivers navigating diverse traffic conditions. The digital instrument cluster offers excellent configurability, while modern infotainment systems keep the car connected to contemporary technology standards. The premium sound insulation creates a serene cabin environment, making extended highway journeys remarkably pleasant. Comfortable, well-sculpted seats provide excellent support for both driver and passengers, supported by a well-tuned suspension that handles India's varied road surfaces with surprising composure. Overall, this is a genuinely mature, well-resolved luxury sedan that rewards daily use.
The Audi A4 stands out in India as a premium sedan powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-petrol engine producing 204PS with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic, delivering brisk performance and exceptional refinement ideal for diverse driving needs. I value its crisp German styling, premium LED lighting, and 16-inch alloys that turn heads, paired with a cabin boasting ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, 10.1-inch touchscreen, and wireless charging for everyday luxury. Ride comfort excels with adaptive suspension absorbing potholes smoothly, while stability at high speeds and precise steering make it engaging on highways. Safety includes six airbags, ABS, ESC, and tyre pressure monitoring, earning five-star Euro NCAP ratings. Though rear space suits two adults best and mileage hovers at 12 kmpl average, its quiet cabin, quick gearshifts, and loaded features make it a practical, prestigious choice for Indian families seeking a complete luxury package without excess size.
Expert opinion and recommendation
After thoroughly evaluating the Audi A4 in the Indian market, I find it to be one of the most complete luxury sedans available in its segment today. The car impresses with its refined 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that delivers smooth acceleration and exceptional refinement, scoring 9.0 out of 10 for performance and refinement. The interior exudes premium quality with thoughtful layouts that feel every bit as luxurious as more expensive Audi models, supported by excellent noise insulation that makes both city commutes and long-distance driving genuinely pleasurable. The ride and handling characteristics are equally impressive, with adaptive suspension systems that strike an ideal balance between comfort and dynamic capability. While the rear seat backrest feels slightly upright and three-adult seating isn't ideal, these are minor compromises given the overall package. I would confidently recommend the A4 to anyone seeking a blend of German engineering excellence, premium comfort, and reliable daily-use capability without sacrificing driving engagement or luxury appeal.
I find the Audi A4 to be one of the most compelling luxury sedans available in India today, delivering a seamless blend of refined performance, premium build quality, and everyday usability that makes it ideal for both city commutes and highway drives. The 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine paired with the smooth 7-speed S tronic transmission offers effortless acceleration and incredible refinement, scoring high marks for its hushed cabin and plush ride quality even on imperfect Indian roads. I appreciate the high-quality interior with its digital cockpit, supportive seats, and modern features like the intuitive infotainment system, which elevate the driving experience to match pricier rivals. Space is generous upfront with good rear room for two adults, complemented by six airbags and strong Euro NCAP safety credentials that instill confidence. While rear access could be easier and there's no diesel option, the A4's balanced handling, excellent noise insulation, and premium feel make it a standout choice for buyers seeking long-term satisfaction without compromises on luxury or dynamics. In my view, it justifies its position as a top pick in the segment for those prioritizing sophistication and drivability over outright space.

The 2025 Audi A4 retains its position as a refined and engaging sport compact sedan, appealing to drivers who enjoy confident performance without seeking too much attention. Its balance of advanced technology, comfort, and driving enjoyment ensures it remains a timeless choice in the Indian luxury car market.
Smart home controls have been added to the rearview mirror of the 2025 Audi A4, allowing drivers to control their home devices directly from the car. This integration of smart technology into the vehicle enhances the overall convenience and luxury experience. I think this is a clever move by Audi to stay ahead in the tech race.
Audi has dropped the base 40 TFSI drivetrain for the 2025 A4, focusing on more powerful and efficient options. The Premium and Premium Plus models now come with more standard equipment, making them more value-for-money options in the luxury sedan segment.
The 2025 Audi A4 has improved noise insulation, creating a quieter and more serene driving environment. This attention to detail in comfort is something Audi is known for, and it doesnt disappoint in the A4.

Pricing details and changes
The 2025 Audi A4 petrol automatic variant carries an on-road price of approximately 57.40 to 60 lakh rupees in India, positioning it in the upper-middle luxury sedan segment. The ex-showroom pricing typically starts around 51-52 lakh rupees for the base petrol variant, though exact figures vary by dealership and current promotions. From my perspective as an automotive reviewer, this pricing is well-justified considering the premium build quality, sophisticated interiors, and advanced safety features you receive. The car delivers exceptional value within the luxury segment, particularly when compared to competitors offering similar specifications and refinement levels. The depreciation curve for Audi A4 models remains stable due to strong brand prestige and customer loyalty in India, where every fourth Audi sold is to an existing customer. While the initial investment is substantial, the ownership experience justifies the premium through reliable engineering and minimal maintenance concerns, making it a sound long-term investment for discerning buyers.
In India, the Audi A4 Premium variant's ex-showroom price starts around ₹50-55 lakh, depending on the city and current offers, while the on-road price, including RTO, insurance, and taxes, settles at approximately ₹57-60 lakh for major metros like Guwahati or Delhi. I consider this pricing competitive for the luxury sedan segment, as it undercuts some rivals like the BMW 3 Series or Mercedes C-Class in base form while delivering comparable premium attributes. The ex-showroom figure covers the essentials, but on-road costs add about 10-15% due to varying state taxes—lower in states like Haryana, higher in Karnataka—plus mandatory insurance and fastag fees. From my experience reviewing these, the value shines through with included features like matrix LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver aids, reducing the need for costly add-ons. Maintenance is reasonable for the class at ₹40,000-50,000 annually, and strong resale value helps offset running costs. For budget-conscious buyers eyeing luxury, this on-road price represents smart value, especially if you negotiate during festive seasons or opt for the limited Signature Edition for extra accessories at minimal uplift.
Fuel efficiency information
The Audi A4's 2.0 TFSI engine delivers impressive fuel efficiency for a turbocharged petrol unit, consistently returning 17+ kilometers per liter under real-world Indian driving conditions. This mileage figure proves competitive within the luxury sedan category, particularly considering the engine's power output and refinement characteristics. For daily office commutes and weekend driving, I find this efficiency more than adequate, translating to reasonable running costs despite premium fuel requirements. The precise mileage will vary based on driving habits, traffic conditions, and maintenance practices, but owners can expect consistent performance across diverse Indian road conditions. The turbocharged nature means better fuel efficiency compared to naturally-aspirated alternatives, making it sensible for cost-conscious luxury buyers concerned about recurring fuel expenses.
I rate the Audi A4's real-world mileage at 10-12 kmpl in mixed city-highway use on Indian roads, with highway figures reaching 14-17 kmpl under optimal conditions, thanks to the efficient 2.0 TFSI engine. Running costs stay manageable at ₹8-10 per km with current petrol prices, making it viable for urban buyers despite no diesel; its refinement and low maintenance tip the scales for performance-oriented decisions over pure efficiency chasers.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Audi A4
Audi India launched the much-awaited New A4 on 3rd May, 2012 in Indian market. It is available in three variants with prices starting from Rs. 29.86 lakhs (Ex-showroom Maharashtra). New model of A4 features all-new headlights and tail lamps. As per the company claims the the new model is also marginally larger in comparison to the outgoing model and new models are also more fuel efficient and comfortable. Looking at the rising competition from Mercedes and BMW, Audi has re-launched A4 with few changes to take on its rivals.
Exterior
The new Audi A4 borrows some of the styling bits from its elder sibling A6 and looks much premium and classy than before. Most noticeable changes are made to its front and side styling. The new face features two prominent Audi characteristics which includes hexagonal grille and LED daytime running light strips in its xenon headlights with more angular fog lights which are rectangular in shape. The side creases also gets bolder and sharper and it looks extremely aerodynamic when seen from either side. It has a short rear overhang with stretched bonnet and fender which makes it look like a coupe and its 16 and 17 inch five spoke alloy wheels looks cool and sporty. The rear profile has been slightly tweaked but you will need a magnifying glass to point out the changes.
Interior
The interior of this car almost remains unchanged with similar color and visual appearance. However it gets a new 4-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with new gear lever wrapped in leather. It uses brown colored wooden trims on its door panels with optional leather upholstery. Five adults can easily fit into this car with ample amount of headroom and legroom. The overall quality of interiors has improved than before and can easily impress you.
Comfort and Convenience
The new A4 features three-zone automatic air conditioning, front centre armrest with rear headrest. For better visibility, its front seats are electrically adjustable. It also features glass sunroof and cruise control which gives you stress free long rides. It has electrically adjustable, fold-able and heated outside mirrors which helps you while parking with Audi parking system plus. Other features include electric sun blind for rear window and manual for rear side windows.
Dashboard and Storage
It has a black colored dashboard with wooden inlays and a centre console. The touch and texture quality of the plastic is very satisfactory. It also houses the familiar instrument panel and Multi Information Display. This dashboard has a huge glove box with pockets on all doors, back pocket on front seats and bottle holder in floor console. It has a massive boot capacity of 480 litres which can easily take the luggage of a full size family.
Music System
New Audi A4 sports a concert radio, Audi music and Bluetooth interface with steering mounted controls to make your rides musical and enjoyable.
Engine and Gearbox
There are 3 engine options available in Audi A4. One of them is a 1.8L TFSi petrol unit. This turbocharged engine now churns out a maximum power of 170 bhp at 4500 rpm with a maximum torque output of 320 Nm ranging from 1400-3700 rpm. This engine is mated with an eight speed automatic transmission. The other two are the diesel engines. One of them is a 2.0L TDI engine which generates a peak power of 177 Bhp at 4200 rpm with a torque output of 380 Nm available at 1750rpm.This engine is mated with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The second diesel engine is a powerful V6 3.0L TDI engine with a power and torque output of 245 bhp and 500 Nm coming at 4000 rpm and 1500 rpm respectively. It uses a 7 speed S-tronic transmission.
Acceleration and Performance
Its 2.0L TDI engine feels the most underpowered and slowest amongst the all 3 engines. It does 0-100km/hour in more than 10 seconds with a top speed of 210km/hr. It’s also slower than its rivals. The petrol engine, thanks to the increased power output now takes around 8.5 seconds to reach 100km/hour from standstill. It manages to reach a top speed of 225km/hr. It feels better than before and responses well in comparison to Mercedes C class but it is nowhere near to the petrol engine used in the new BMW 3 series. The V6 3.0L diesel engine is the fastest amongst all and does 0-100km/hour in less than 6seconds and reaches a whacking top speed of 250km/hr. This engine is specially crafted for enthusiasts and feels best in its class.
Mileage
Audi claims that the new A4 is 10% more fuel efficient than before. They claim a fuel efficiency of around 15km/ltr with both 1.8L petrol and 3.0L diesel engine. Expect these figures to be around 10-12km/ltr in daily usage. The 2.0L diesel engine can give you a mileage of around 13km/ltr in city conditions.
Safety Features
New Audi A4 comes with 6 airbags for front and rear, ABS with EBD and ESP to maximize your safety in this car. Other safety features include anti-theft alarm and bolts with auto release function.
Suspension and Brakes
The suspension in this car is specially mated for Indian conditions and works brilliantly at all speeds. Potholes are easily digested and you get a comfortable ride. All four wheels are equipped with ventilated disk brakes.
Ride and Handling
Audi A4 handles really well in city conditions with its light steering wheel. The low ground clearance of 128mm may be an issue while crossing big potholes. With a wheelbase of 2808mm and R16 and 17 sizes of tyres, it holds the road really well and it is fun to drive at high speed corners as there is no body roll and car feels very balanced.
Warranty
A4 is available in six shades and three variants with three different engines. All three variants come with a warranty of 2 years/unlimited kilometres.
Variants
New Audi A4 is available in three variants: A4 1.8 TFSi, A4 2.0 TDi and A4 3.0 TDi Quattro.
Verdict
The new Audi A4 is cheaper than its outgoing model and other rivals. This is the biggest USP of this car. With new styling and increased power output, its petrol version makes more sense than before but it’s the diesel version which makes it a good buy. Its 3.0L diesel variant makes it a complete value for money car as with this engine it gives you the best performance and mileage in its class without any kind of compromise. We believe this flagship car from Audi will continue to be their best seller in India.
