Yamaha SR400 is a good bike for daily commuters and beginners. This kickstarting single-cylinder bike takes a lot of energy to start. It would have been better if it had an electric start option along with Kickstarter. But the price point at which it is being offered can be a big put-off as many of its rivals offer better features at a lower price point.
I am switching to this bike to take away the stress from my daily commute. It performs well on city streets as well as highways. The easy-to-use kick starter gets the engine running within a few seconds. Fuel injection gives the bike modern practicality and fantastic response.
I love this bike! It's the perfect combination of simple and cool. Changing the seat was all it needed to start the cafe boom. The only criticism I have is the lack of a balancer, which does cause some vibration on long highway trips.
The XSR line of Yamaha may be appealing to some, but I think it's great that Yamaha has kept true to its roots with the single cylinder bike. It's a very solid machine, and I'm sure it will be a great addition to the bike community. It's nice that it has all the necessary features, without any of the added extras.
