The Interceptor is, hands-down, better for commuting. It is more nimble in traffic and you have better visibility with that upright position. It’s also just more fun to ride!

For every day use I'd pick the Meteor. It helps keep your back and wrists more relaxed because it's easier to ride in a relaxed position when you wait at those long traffic lights. Plus it has a lower seat height, which is good for those that are shorter.

Both of them are good options, but I like the Interceptor better. It’s great, nice and sporty and feels more responsive in city traffic so you can make a quick move when needed.

The Meteor wins for me. There's more comfortable seat for longer rides and the engine is a bit smoother in stop and go traffic. It’s nice to have the extra wind protection of the small visor too.

I have ridden both and the Interceptor is my choice for commuting. It just makes the ride more alive and engaging, which is more helpful in waking me up on those early morning rides to work!

It’s really about your commute. If you have a lot of highway miles, the Meteor might be your best bet. The Interceptor's agility is the key for purely urban riding.

And don't forget that the Meteor gets better fuel efficiency. When you’re commuting daily though, those MPG gains add up.

Absolutely not! Out of the box, the Interceptor 350 is great. The stock setup was done well by Royal Enfield and messing with it just invites problems.

A couple of choice mods can really wake the bike up. If you get a good exhaust and air filter combo, you will hear and feel the difference without spending a fortune.

That depends on what you want from the bike. Stock is fine for casual riding. However, if you're after every last bit of performance, there's lots of scope for improvement with some carefully picked upgrades.

A first rule I'd say is to focus on ergonomic mods. Most things that will make you enjoy riding more than you currently do are things like a more comfortable seat or adjustable levers that will annoy no one other than you.

I personally believe half the fun of owning an Interceptor is to tinker with it! Start small – a tail tidy or new mirrors – and see where it leads you.

The only mod you need is a good set of tires. It’s all personal preference and chasing marginal gains.

A suspension upgrade is what makes the biggest difference, I've found. And it changed the handling and made the bike feel so much more planted in a corner.
How is the Interceptor 350 as a long term ownership proposition?

It's been rock solid, I've had mine for 3 years now. But it's not any more demanding than other bikes I’ve owned and regular maintenance is key. These new RE engines are much more reliable than their old reputation would have you believe.

It's a mixed bag. I know a few people who have had electrical gremlins pop up after a couple of years but mine's been great. They are generally reliable, not quite up to Japanese standards yet.

Long term ownership is the strength of the simplicity of the bike. Less can go wrong and when something does need fixing, it’s usually simple. Plus, parts are affordable.

I worry about resale value. Who knows, they’re popular now, but will the retro trend last? It might be harder to sell in 5-10 years than a more established brand.

It’s all about how you treat the bike, long term ownership. Maintain it, don’t thrash it, and it will be good to you. I’ve seen a lot of high mile Interceptors still running.

The dealer network is one thing to consider. If you don’t live near RE service, long term ownership may be more difficult.
