Blacksmith Electric, a Chennai-based startup, has been working on the Blacksmith B2 electric motorcycle since 2003 and has tested its 3rd generation prototype for over 7,000 km. The company boasts of owning the patent for battery swap technology in India, filed in 2006, even before Teslas launch. This technology could be a game-changer in the Indian electric vehicle market. I believe this innovative approach will set Blacksmith apart from its competitors.

The Blacksmith B2 is designed with a cruiser-inspired styling, featuring a straight handlebar, long tank, single-piece seat, and a tall windscreen. It also includes a low-slung rectangular headlamp with LED projectors and DRLs, along with a sleek LED tail lamp. This design is aimed at providing both style and comfort. I think the blend of classic cruiser looks with modern electric tech is quite appealing.
