Tata has recently launched an updated version of its reliable and popular MPV Magic, christened as Magic Iris. It is a 4 and 5 passenger MPV with a robust design to carry heavy loads with great safety and stability.
The exterior of Tata Magic Iris gives a tough and robust look with attractive design. It has fully covered body and has glass windows in front and window covers for rear, stylish and bright angular headlamp cluster, black colored ORVMs, bright and vertical tail lamp cluster, a high mounted stop lamp, wide doors with pop-up knob provision for side-step, sleek modern body lines and 12-inch radial tires. This MPV has a length of 2960mm, width of 1512mm and an un-laden height of 1800mm as its dimension and has a large wheelbase of 1650mm for a stable ride. It has a front and rear track of 1250mm and 1310mm respectively. It has a good ground clearance of 160mm for a bump-free ride and a good minimum turning radius of 3.5m for easy cruising in city traffic and in tight parking spots. It has a curb weight of 685kgs along with the gross vehicle weight of 1110kgs and has a fuel tank capacity of 10 litres.
The interior of Tata Magic Iris also has some striking and noteworthy features such as foot-operated accelerator, brake and clutch, 350mm diameter rack and pinion type steering wheel, stylish and clear instrument panel with details such as speed, distance travelled and amount of fuel available, comfortable passengers seats with seat belts, thick cushions, higher backrest and better thigh support, 11% more passenger space than Magic, spacious luggage area with also a provision for roof carrier, comfortable and adjustable driver and front passenger bucket seats with high backrest, broad cushion and seat belts, spacious and attractive dashboard with a rest pad, lockable glove compartment, provision for music system and mobile charger and easy hand-held gear shifting, driver's side sun visor and loud horn. It also has an internal length of 2740mm, width of 1230mm and height of 1295mm as its dimensions.
Tata Magic Iris has a 611cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, naturally aspirated, direct-injection, BS-III compliant, water-cooled diesel engine with a maximum power of 11 bhp at 3000 rpm and a maximum torque of 31 Nm at 1600-1800 rpm and has a four speed synchromesh gearbox transmission with the top speed of 55kmph. It has a 160mm diameter single-plate dry friction diaphragm type clutch and its front axle has independent stub axles and rear axle has transaxles with CV shafts.
Tata Magic Iris has hydraulically activated drum brakes at both the front and rear wheels along with car like parking brakes on rear wheels. The suspension system is an Independent Macpherson Strut type with Hydraulic Double-acting Shock Absorbers at front and Coil Spring with Semi Trailing Arm and Hydraulic Double-acting Shock Absorbers at rear. For the safety, it includes all-steel body with double sheet steel doors, hard top and window covers, large windshield with side mirrors and motorised wipers with knob operated water spray, static roll over protection, powerful and bright clear lens headlamps and high mounted tail lamps and strong and durable reverse hat section chassis frame.
Tata Magic Iris has two variants mainly named 4-Seater Diesel and 5-Seater Diesel. It is available in four beautiful shades which include Arctic White, Ruby Red, Jet Black and Skool Yellow. The approx. ex-showroom, Delhi price range for Tata Magic Iris is INR 2.20-2.50lakhs which may vary slightly in different states. It comes with a warranty of 1 year or 36,000kms, whichever comes earlier.
