Maruti Suzuki India Limited, previously known as Maruti Udyog Limited, is a leading Indian automobile manufacturer founded in 1981. Its headquarters are in New Delhi and it had produced over 5 million vehicles till 2004. Maruti started the actual production in 1983 with the Maruti 800 whose sole competitors were Hindustan Ambassador and Premium Padmini. It has domestic sale of 730,000 cars annually and the company exports around 50,000 cars each year depending upon the export order. Recently in February 2012 the company sold its ten-millionth vehicle in India. The vehicle manufactured by the Maruti includes Alto, Ritz, A-Star, Swift, Wagon R, Zen, Alto, SX4, DZire, Eeco and Omni. Maruti has two manufacturing facilities in India one in Gurgaon and the other in Manesar. Maruti recently celebrated the 5th anniversary of their premium sedan DZire by offering the limited edition DZire Regal. This sedan measures 3995mm in length, 1695mm in width, 1555mm in height with the wheelbase of 2430mm. It offers a huge ground clearance of 170mm with gross weight of 1415kg and kerb weight of 970kg.
The limited edition Regal is available in petrol variant only. It uses 1.2-liter K-series petrol engine that makes 1197cc of engine displacement. The VVT engine generated power up to 86bhp at 6000rpm and the maximum torque produced is 114 Nm at 4000 rpm. DZire Regal has 4-cylinders with 4-valves in each cylinder in SOHC (Single Over Head Camshaft) configuration. This sedan follows MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) system as fuel supply system. The bore and stroke length of the engine pistons are 73mm and 71.5mm respectively. It has a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres and gives an average mileage of 19 kmp l(on highways) and 13 kmpl (in city). With 5-speed manual transmission, this sedan follows front wheel drive train. The Swift DZire Regal has silky silver painted front fog lamp housing, ORVMs and grille. The chrome base body side graphics with Regal Insignia on both sides looks stylish on the sedan along with the Regal Decal graphic on the rear chrome garnish. The interiors have wooden finish styling kit along with branded beige mats. The high grade stainless steel door still guard is used in the doors.
The front suspension uses McPherson strut while the rear suspension uses torsional beam. It has ventilated disc brakes in front and drum brakes in rear tires. It is equipped with rack and pinion type electronic power steering that also allows tilt adjustments. The leather wrapped power steering makes minimum turning radius of 4.8meters. This four door sedan with two rows has the seating capacity of five persons and offers a boot space of 316 litres. It runs on 14-inch tubeless tires of size 165/80 R14. The fronts as well as the rear windows are electrically powered and the front windows supports auto down feature. The Maruti Suzuki DZire is equipped with rear parking sensors with digital display on the dashboard. The safety features included in the DZire Regal are engine immobilizer, child safety lock and central locking. The instrument cluster on the dashboard consists of various gauges and meters like distance to empty, average fuel consumption, average speed, seal belt warning, door ajar warning and low fuel warning.
The sedan is equipped with HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) that allows heating and cooling of the cabin as per requirement. The dashboard also holds the ash tray and the 12V power outlet. Along with the fabric seat upholstery the seats are provided with luxurious embroidered art-leather seat covers and adjustable head-rests. The body colored ORVM (Outside Rear View Mirror) have mounted side turn indicators and the ORVMs are electrically adjustable. The 2DIN music system installed in the sedan provides the entertainment and supports AM/FM, MP3, CD player and Aux-in. Maruti Suzuki is offering 2 years/40000kms warranty on the sedan.
