Saturday, May 18, 2013The old Swift with hatchback body has been modified into a notch-back sedan and is named as Swift Dzire. It was launched in India on 26th March 2008 and is available in different petrol and diesel variants. Out of seven available variants, four variants support petrol as fuel and the rest of three variants works on diesel with price ranging from 4.80 lakh to 7.34 lakh (approx., may vary). The Swift Dzire petrol comes equipped with the new K-12 engine that is loaded with impressive variable valve timing (VVT) technology. This mechanism orchestrates valve opening and closing in a way that give better power and efficiency along with smooth acceleration and quick response. This engine produces 1197 cc of displacement and has four cylinders and sixteen valves. With multipoint fuel injection system it gives an average mileage of 13 kmpl in city and 19.1 kmpl on highway.
The maximum power this engine generates is 86 bhp at 6000 rpm with maximum torque of 114 nm at 4000 rpm. The kerb weight of the car varies from 960-990 kg for different models. The gross weight of vehicle is 1415 kg with manual transmission and 1435 kg with automatic transmission. The Dzire petrol comes in 5-speed manual transmission as well as in 4-speed automatic transmission. The Fuel tank capacity is 42 litres and the dimensions of the car measures 3995 mm (length), 1695 mm (width), 1555 mm (height) with wheel base of 2430 mm. It offers a ground clearance of 170 mm and the turning radius of 4.8 meters. It has a rack and pinion type steering which is electrically powered. Dzire has McPherson Strut with coil spring in front suspension and torsion beam suspension in rear wheels. It offers a huge boot-space of 316 litres.
The diesel variant of car offers 1248 cc of displacement with four cylinders and sixteen valves. The D13A diesel engine is DDiS (Direct Diesel injection System) with CRDi (Common Rail Direct injection) technology. It produces 75 bhp of maximum power at 4000 rpm and the maximum torque thus generated is 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. The engine is powered with fixed geometry turbo charger with intercool and the kerb weight of the car is 1055 kg with gross weight of 1505 kg. The diesel Swift Dzire comes with 5-speed manual transmission. The car is provided with 15-inch ventilated front disk and rear drum brakes along with BAS (Braking Assist System) that gives efficient braking power.
Swift Dzire has advanced audio system with auto volume control that supports USB and a 12V accessory socket allows the power supply to GPS and mobile phones. The multifunctional display contains odometer, trip meter, outside temperature, range on remaining fuel and average fuel consumption. OVRM are controlled from inside with power controlled windows. Safety features include light-on reminder, key-on reminder, door closure warning lamp and a digital clock for time. Retractable cup-holder on the dashboard is another useful feature of Dzire. It comes with pre-installed 2-front and 2-rear speakers and is available in bright red, clear beige, arctic white, pacific blue, glistering grey, silky silver and midnight black.
