Saturday, May 18, 2013Maruti is the common name for Maruti Suzuki limited that was formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited. It is an automobile manufacturer in India and a subsidiary of Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki. The company's headquarters are situated in New Delhi. The Alto K10 comes in the category of hatchback cars. Its engine is made up of aluminium, that makes engine lighter and the vehicle becomes more fuel efficient. It has three cylinders and each cylinder contains four valves. Alto K10 is available in four variants and it runs on petrol and LPG. There is a little or no difference in the specifications of the LPG and Petrol engines. It has a 1.0 litre engine that makes 998cc of displacement and produces 67 bhp at 6200 rpm. Maximum torque produced by the 5-speed transmission engine is 90 Nm at 3500 rpm.
The all new cable type gear shift is installed in Alto K10 for smoother shifting of gears and the car reaches 100 kmph in just 13.3 secs. The Alto K10 measures 3620 mm(length), 1475mm(width), 1460(height), and the ground clearance of 160 mm. The turning radius of 4.6 meters helps the easy manoeuvre in turns and parking of the vehicle. McPherson strut with torsion type roll control device is used in front suspension and coil spring, gas filled shock absorbers with three link rigid axle & isolated trailing arm is used in rear suspension. The kerb weight of Alto K10 LXi is 760 kg and that of Alto K10 VXi is 765 kg. The fuel tank capacity is 35 litres and it gives an average mileage of 20.2 kmpl. Front brakes are disk type and rear brakes are drum brakes. The collapsible steering column along with power steering makes the drive comfortable and safe.
The ORVM are controlled internally and the fuel lid and boot can be opened remotely. The front windows are electrically powered and easily controlled through a single button. The three spokes steering wheel looks sporty and is easy to handle. Alto K10 is equipped with 13-inches tubeless tyres to improve the stability and control over the vehicle. The head-rests for the front and rear seats is integrated to the seats. The safety features include side impact beams, child lock, immobiliser iCATS (intelligent computerized anti-theft system), key-off reminder and high mounted stop lamp. Two cup holders and cabin lamp are some other useful features of the new Alto K10. It is an Eco-friendly car as it has the certification of ELV (end-of-life vehicles) that ensures high degree of recycling of raw materials.
