Fiat released an upgraded version of Punto on January 3, 2012 and also launched a limited edition sports variant recently. The exterior of all new Punto gives a stylish and fluidic appeal with its aggressive front grille, great rear fascia, curvaceous design, stylish 15-inch alloy wheels, an antenna, front and rear fog lights, bright Follow me Home front and rear headlamps that keep lighting even after you exited the car for a programmable duration, body colored bumper, electrically operated ORVMs and a rear wiper. It has a length of 3987mm, width of 1687mm and height of 1495mm as its dimension and a large wheelbase of 2510mm for a stable ride. It also has a good ground clearance of 195mm in some variants and 185mm in others for a bump free ride. It has a kerb weight of 1144kgs and a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres. It also provides a good minimum turning radius of 5m for easy cruising in city traffic and in tight parking spaces.
The interior of new Punto is a symbol of luxury, space and magnificence with its leather finished gear knob and steering wheel, dual-toned gray and dark gray interiors, height adjustable driver's seat, adjustable seats, comfortably positioned pedals, all four power windows with 'Delay' and 'Auto Down' function, steering with Blue and Me audio controls, dual-toned dashboard, automatic fold-able ignition key and 60:40 split seats. The interior of this hatchback also gives a great inclination towards your comfort with its rear parcel shelf, rear seat head restraint, clutch foot rest, power steering, tilt steering, speed sensing volume adjustment, rear foot level AC vents, powerful AC with Automatic Climate Control System, remote boot opener, remote fuel filler and an on-board computerized digital interface that includes digital odometer, temperature indicator, trip activation analytics, real-time mileage indicator, distance to empty indicator, device schedule reminder, programmable speed limit buzzer, date and clock setting, front passenger airbag deactivation and many more functions. The all new Fiat Punto has three engines. The petrol variants are equipped with 1.2L and 1.4L engines while the diesel variants have a 1.3L engine. In petrol, the base Active variant and the middle Dynamic variant has a 1172cc, 1.2L, FIRE petrol engine with maximum power of 68 bhp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 96 Nm at 2500 rpm with the top speed of 155kmph and reaches 0-100kmph mark in 14.5 seconds. The other petrol variant Emotion has a 1368cc, 1.4L, FIRE petrol engine which has a maximum power of 90 bhp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 115 Nm at 4500 rpm with the top speed of 178 kmph and reaches 0-100 kmph mark in just 10.9 seconds. The diesel variants are all equipped with 1248cc, 1.3L, VGT technology, Multijet Turbo diesel engine which has a maximum power of 76 bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 197 Nm at 1750 rpm with the top speed of 165 kmph and reaches 0-100 kmph mark in 13.6 seconds. The mileage given by different variants includes 15.7kmpl by 1.2L petrol, 14.6kmpl by 1.4L petrol, 20.3kmpl by 1.3L diesel and 20.5kmpl by 1.3L 90-hp diesel variant.
The all new Punto has 257mm of disk brakes at front and 203mm of drum brakes at rear. For the complete safety of the passengers, it has ABS with EBD, Dual front SRS Airbags with early crash sensors, tensile steel frame with reinforced bodywork, Fire Prevention System, Fiat Code System that uses immobiliser with rolling Code, Crash Severity Algorithm, rear wiper and defogger and fog lights. Overall, this new Fiat Punto gives a great impression of luxury, comfort, space, speed, safety, performance, price and style and the only thing that goes against Fiat is its few servicing outlets after the sales.
