The 847cc, three cylinder engine on the motorcycle is good for 115 PS at 10000 rpm and 87.5 Nm at 8500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Yamaha has silently introduced the 2018 variant in India for INR 10,88,122. It was first on sale for INR 11.36 lakh and that too with the older design. 2018 Yamaha MT-09 comes as a CBU and thus, gets higher priced than similar products like Triumph Street Triple S and Kawasaki Z900.
