Teaser Reveals Kawasaki W175 with Alloy Wheels, Set for IBW 2023 Launch

Teaser Reveals Kawasaki W175 with Alloy Wheels, Set for IBW 2023 Launch

Kawasaki has put up a teaser on social media about a certain ‘The Original Icon’. And while that points to the W series of motorcycles, Kawasaki mentioning ‘The 1965 Legacy’ in the caption confirms that, because 1965 was the year when the W series of Kawasaki bikes came into existence. This one will likely be a special edition of the cheapest Kawasaki bike, the W175. Given that the bike will be ‘back in a vibrant avatar’, we think the updated W175 could get alloy wheels, fatter tyres and maybe a brighter paint scheme, all to make it look more modern. Because let’s be honest, the Kawasaki W175 doesn’t look old school, it just looks old.

Expect these changes to carry a premium of around Rs 15,000 over the Candy Persimmon Red W175, which currently costs Rs 1,49,000. The base W175, meanwhile, costs Rs 1,47,000 (both ex-showroom India). Primarily, the W175. It also acts as the smaller-engined, Japanese alternative to the Royal Enfield Bullet 350.

The variant is expected to get cosmetic changes only. It should come with alloy wheels, which means the W175 will be available with tubeless tyres after this launch. This will also provide more options for buyers considering the W175 with the spoked wheels providing the classic retro touch to the bike while the alloy wheels provide a more modern feel.

Also, we expect the upcoming variant to get new colour schemes as well. Other than these, the rest of the bike is expected to remain unchanged. The Kawasaki W175 is powered by a 177cc, single-cylinder engine producing 13PS and 13.3Nm. The suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers while braking duties are taken care of by a 270mm disc up front and a drum at the rear.
