Maruti Suzuki Developing ADAS for Grand Vitara

To improve safety and drive ease, Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to incorporate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) into its cars. The upcoming Grand Vitara full-hybrid models are expected to lead this technological advancement, following their showcase at Maruti's Technology Zone during last year's Auto Expo.

The introduction of ADAS took a significant leap with the unveiling of the new-generation Maruti Swift in Japan on December 6, 2023. This level-2 ADAS includes features such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, 360-degree camera, and rear traffic alerts. While the India-spec Swift may not initially receive this technology, it is anticipated to be integrated into the Grand Vitara, setting a new standard in the segment.

As a result, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is also expected to incorporate ADAS technology following its debut in the Vitara. Among the major rivals of the Grand Vitara, only the VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder currently lack level-2 ADAS features in the segment.

Once ADAS is implemented, consumers can anticipate a price increase of approximately Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 70,000 over the current top-spec model. In keeping with Maruti Suzuki's dedication to raising automobile safety standards, this premium represents the convenience and increased safety benefits provided by ADAS technology.
