Mahindra XUV300 EV to Launch in 2024 – Positioned Below XUV400 EV, Competing with Nexon EV.

Mahindra is gearing up for a strategic move to compete with India's best-selling electric car the Nexon EV. Despite the XUV400 being positioned as a larger and superior option it has struggled to dent the sales of the Nexon EV. Mahindra is now pinning its hopes on the XUV300 EV anticipating better results due to competitive pricing and a fresh range of features.

Mahindra XUV300 EV – Anticipated Features

The facelift version of the XUV300 sub-4-meter SUV is in the works featuring both internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains and an electric version. Test mules have unveiled significant updates including a major refresh of the exteriors. The design is in line with Mahindra's new visual language for its future Battery Electric (BE) line of SUVs which will have characteristic elements like LED tail lights, full-width LED front and backlighting, and C-shaped LED daytime running lights. Unlike the XUV400, the XUV300 EV will place the number plate on the bumper for a distinctive look. Unique styling elements such as new alloy wheels and special badging will set the electric version apart from its ICE sibling.

XUV300 EV Interiors

To match the equipment list of the Nexon EV the XUV300 EV is expected to receive significant updates in its interiors. This includes a larger touchscreen display, potentially matching or surpassing the Nexon EV's 12.3-inch touchscreen. Changes are anticipated across the dashboard, center console, and switchgear.

XUV300 EV Range, Specs, Performance

Equipped with a 35-kWh battery pack the XUV300 EV aims to outperform its larger XUV400 counterpart which utilizes a 40 kWh battery pack. While specific details about the range and electric motor are yet to be disclosed it is expected that the XUV300 EV will target a higher range to effectively challenge the Nexon EV. The XUV400 offers two variants with ranges of 375 km (MIDC) and 456 km (MIDC) and the XUV300 EV is poised to compete by offering a higher range and additional features.

XUV300 EV Price

The XUV300 EV is expected to cost between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 17 lakh. Mahindra, known for offering attractive limited-period launch prices, is likely to employ this strategy for the XUV300 EV as well. The XUV400 is currently priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 19.39 lakh. Top-spec variants of the XUV300 EV are expected to be approximately Rs 2 lakh more affordable than the XUV400. The ICE XUV300 facelift is slated to debut around February 2024 with the XUV300 EV launch expected by June 2024.
