1. Kia Sonet Facelift

  • Price: Rs 8 lakh-15 lakh
  • Launch: January 2024
  • Engine: 1.2 petrol, 1.0 turbo-petrol, 1.5 diesel

Bookings for the refreshed Sonet compact SUV have recently commenced, following its global debut. The Sonet facelift retains its three engine options, including manual, iMT, and automatic transmissions. Notably, the diesel-manual version is making a comeback. The 2024 Sonet is poised to compete more effectively with rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Nissan Magnite. Along with minor external and interior improvements, the facelift includes feature upgrades like Level 1 ADAS and a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Prices for the Kia Sonet facelift are expected to surpass those of the outgoing model.

2. Kia EV9

  • Price: Rs 1 crore
  • Launch: April-May 2024
  • Battery: 77.4kWh, 99.8kWh

Kia's flagship electric vehicle, the EV9, is anticipated to hit the Indian market before the monsoons. While the concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo featured a 77.4kWh battery pack, the global production-spec model revealed later boasted a larger 99.8kWh, 800V battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 563km. The EV9 is expected to be available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, with corresponding motor specifications. Positioned as a large SUV comparable to the BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi Q8 e-tron SUV, and Jaguar I-Pace, the EV9 features advanced technology, including a spacious digital panel with multiple screens. Given its exclusive status, the EV9 is likely to be sold in limited numbers at prices exceeding Rs 1 crore.

3. Kia Carnival

  • Price: Rs 26 lakh-35 lakh
  • Launch: Second half of 2024
  • Engine: 2.2 diesel

The Kia KA4, essentially the fourth-generation Carnival MPV was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. It exhibits a rugged, SUV-inspired design and is larger than its predecessor. Spy shots have indicated the incorporation of design elements from newer Kia models. The interior of the 2024 Carnival is characterized by a more minimalistic approach, featuring two prominent 12.3-inch displays. The MPV is offered in 7-, 9-, and 11-seat configurations globally, and it remains to be seen which variants will be introduced in India. Expect the continuation of the 201hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine.

4. Kia Clavis (AY)

  • Price: Rs 10 lakh-20 lakh
  • Launch: Early 2025
  • Engine: 1.0 turbo-petrol/TBA

While specific prices for the Kia Clavis (AY) are yet to be announced by the end of 2024, the car is expected to make its debut before the close of the year. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, the Clavis will offer both internal combustion engine (ICE) and all-electric powertrain options. Technical specifications are yet to be disclosed, but it is anticipated to feature the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Sonet. A significant highlight is the Clavis being the first Kia model in India to incorporate a strong hybrid powertrain option. Sources suggest a tall and boxy design, drawing inspiration from the Kia Soul, addressing concerns such as limited legroom at the rear and a small boot in the Sonet.

As Kia expands its lineup in India these upcoming models showcase the brand's commitment to providing diverse and innovative options to cater to the dynamic preferences of the Indian automotive market. Undoubtedly, the upcoming months will witness the reveal and introduction of these exciting new goods which will pave the way for Kia's sustained competitiveness and presence in the Indian auto industry.
