Imagining the 2024 Tata Sierra with a Fresh Design Approach

Tata unveiled the Sierra EV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and later showcased the Sierra EV SUV concept at Auto Expo 2023, displaying it in a format close to production-ready. Recently, design patent images offered a preliminary look at the SUV's exterior design. Pratyush Rout, utilizing Tata's new design language, has crafted an exclusive rendering of the Sierra SUV.

The Sierra rendered in line with the new design language demonstrates Tata's innovative approach. The company introduced its new design language through the Avinya concept which is based on Tata's GEN 3 architecture and will underpin the upcoming generation of electric vehicles.

In this rendition of the Sierra, the new design language provides enthusiasts with a completely fresh visual experience. Tata's brand identity transformed, replacing the standard logo with a distinctive arrangement of a full-width LED light bar at the front. This creative design modification reduces the clutter caused by the typical logo placement on the front grille or bonnet in addition to enhancing the quality profile of the Sierra SUV.

The Sierra SUV boasts several notable features including sleek headlamps, a sizable grille with a fine mesh design pattern, a sturdy bumper adorned with SIERRA badging, and robust skid plates at the front and rear. The side profile of the Sierra SUV is particularly captivating offering a panoramic window view for rear passengers. The C-pillar and window frame adopt a blackout design, contributing to an all-glass look and feel.

Complementing the SUV's powerful design is the large, tapering B-pillar which is another unique feature. The car's flat door handles, thick body cladding, flared wheel arches, and similarly designed wraparound tail lamps all offer a touch of refinement. An additional factor adding to the overall appeal is the alloy wheels' striking design.

When it comes to features and performance, Tata's GEN 3 platform, focusing on optimizing interior spaces, will equip the Sierra SUV. The vehicle is set to feature a minimalist dashboard with few physical buttons, as most controls and functions will be accessible through the touchscreen infotainment system and capacitive touch controls.

Expect an entirely new steering wheel design, likely featuring an illuminated Tata logo, similar to the one seen on the new Nexon, and the Sierra SUV is anticipated to offer a comprehensive range of connectivity and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features. A 5-star safety rating is anticipated in Bharat NCAP crash tests.

The Tata Sierra SUV will be available with both electric and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) powertrain options. Following the strategy seen with the Curvv model, the electric version is likely to be launched first, with the ICE model to follow and the Sierra could position itself as an alternative to popular models like the 5-door Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny. Within Tata's lineup, the Sierra is expected to be positioned above the Safari.
