Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first batch of BS6 cars in June 2019 as reported by Bloomberg Quint. Converting their large portfolio to BSVI would require an adequate amount of time, thus, the car brand has disregarded its earlier decision of launching the BS6 models in January 2020. According to the government regulations, it is mandatory for every car brand to get their portfolio updated according to the latest emission standards by April 1, 2020. Commenting on the news, R.C Bhargava, Chairman Maruti Suzuki stated: “We have a large number of models. The only way we can ensure that we comply with the law is to start introducing BS-VI versions of some models in every quarter.” [caption id="attachment_226307" align="aligncenter" width="1129"]BS6 Cars Maruti Suzuki to Launch 1st Batch of BS6 Cars by June 2019[/caption] In addition to this, the brand also promised to launch the BS6 cars with the petrol engine first, followed by diesel engines. Speaking on the same, Mr Bhargava commented: “The car which will be launched will only be petrol cars because BS-VI petrol cars can operate safely on BS-IV petrol. BS-VI diesel cars cannot operate safely on BS-IV diesel. So we will not launch diesel cars at all till BS-VI diesel is available.” The new line-up will be launched in the first quarter, April-May of the financial year 2019. In addition to the new emission standards, the brand is also working on introducing new safety features for its cars that will be mandatory in the country from July 1, 2019, though the standard ABS regulations are already under effect from April 1, 2019. Commenting on the new safer vehicles, Mr Bhargava stated: “As far as Maruti is concerned, all these regulations will be met in phasing different models and ensuring that we are well ahead of the deadline prescribed by the norms,” Source
