UM Motorcycle India is planning to invest INR 162.25 Crore in an engine manufacturing unit. The setup will help them expand in a phased manner in India as demand of UM Renegade bikes is expected to rise sharply with the entry of Duty 230 and other lower placed models.
The new facility will employ almost 700 people and could produce up to 50,000 units when fully operational. They are expected to start the facility by early 2019.

Not just that, the on sale products will get 100% localization in the coming year, making them more affordable by a considerable margin. This will help them take the Indian share higher to 25% from 7% in 2019-2020.
Once the availability of Duty 230 comes handy, they can expect the growth in triple digit figures due to its effective ex-showroom pricing. UM products rival Royal Enfield bikes and Bajaj Avenger series in India.
