2020 BS6-Compliant Royal Enfield Classic Spotted Again

The 2020 model of Royal Enfield Classic has been spotted again and the motorcycle is equipped with various new components that make it BS6-compliant. The brand has also equipped the next-gen Classic series with a new instrument console which features a semi-digital layout to display ride-related information. The new switchgear on the 2020 classic range will include rotary dials for the engine kill and high-low beam functions. Almost all BS-VI compliant motorcycles come equipped with a fuel-injection system, an O2 sensor, and a catalytic converter. The latest spy photographs of the 2020 Royal Enfield Classic have revealed these components on the bike. The engine too looks revised in the form of an updated casing where the kick-starter for the bike has been removed. The rear for the motorcycle holds a massive top-box but that is most likely to carry the testing equipment and won't be offered in the production-spec model. We can’t expect a massive difference in the performance of the next-gen Classic motorcycle series. The BS-IV compliant model of Classic 500 has got a 499cc single-cylinder engine which generates 27.2 bhp of maximum power at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm whereas the Classic 350 is powered by a 346cc single-cylinder engine which produces 19.8 bhp of maximum power at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Both the motorcycles are equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. For suspension, it has conventional telescopic front forks and twin-sided, gas-charged, 5-step adjustable shock absorbers at the back. The BS-VI models will surely be priced higher than the current-gen models. At present, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 ABS is available for INR 1.53 lakh and its 500cc variant is priced at INR 2.01 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The next-gen RE Classic models are expected to launch in India by the end of this year or in early 2020.
