Ather 450 Apex Production Begins, Deliveries in March

Ather Energy has begun production of its fastest scooter yet, the Ather 450 Apex. This top-of-the-line model, based on the 450X platform, was introduced earlier this year and is priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom). A limited edition scooter called the 450 Apex was made to celebrate Ather Energy's ten years of success in the electric vehicle industry. Co-founder and CTO Swapnil Jain shared an image of the first 450 Apex rolling off the assembly line at their Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. Delivery is expected to begin the following month.

Features of the Ather 450 Apex

The Ather 450 Apex comes with a tire pressure monitoring system as standard. But it doesn't have anti-lock brakes (ABS). It adds the "Magic Twist" function which enables regenerative braking with a negative throttle, guaranteeing smooth running independent of battery level and the scooter also has LED lighting, dual disc brakes, and a touchscreen with Bluetooth and built-in navigation.

Mechanical Details

The Ather 450 Apex retains the 3.7kWh battery pack and the suspension and braking system from the 450X. It offers enhanced performance with a PMS electric motor that delivers 9.38bhp, compared to 8.5bhp on the 450X. The peak torque remains at 26Nm. The 450 Apex boasts a range of 157km on a single charge, an improvement over the 450X's 150km range. It's the first Ather model to reach a top speed of 100km/h and features an upgraded 'Warp+' ride mode. The scooter accelerates from 0 to 40km/h in 2.9 seconds, with a 13% improvement in initial acceleration and a 30% increase in roll-on acceleration for the 40-80km/h sprint.

Appearance

The 450 Apex shares many design elements with the standard 450X but stands out with a special two-layer "Indium Blue" paint job, contrast orange accents, and near-transparent side panels. Buyers will also receive a customized helmet matching the scooter's color scheme.

Rivals

The Ather 450 Apex competes with other electric scooters like the Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Pro, and TVS iQube.
