Apple Inc. plans to hold a launch event on September 7 to unveil the iPhone 14 line, introducing the latest version of a product that accounts for more than half of its sales. New iPhones will kick off a busy fall product season accompanied by new Macs, low and high-end iPads, and three Apple Watch models.

The standard iPhone 14 will resemble the iPhone 13, though they will let go of the 5.4-inch "mini" version in favour of a 6.7-inch model. This is the first time Apple would release an iPhone with a large display that is not a Pro version.

A pill-shaped hole for Face ID sensors and a hole-punch-sized area for the camera will replace the front-facing camera cutout, known as the notch. Users will have slightly more screen space because of this. The iPhone 14 Pro will also get a faster chip from Apple.

The camera system will be the most significant iPhone 14 Pro change. The Pro models will include a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera besides 12-megapixel UltraWide and telephoto sensors. Apple also intends to improve video recording and battery life.

Apple will include features for women's health and a body-temperature sensor in the latest Series 8 Apple Watches. The standard watch will look similar to the Series 7, but a new pro model will cater to more active customers. It will have a larger display, a more durable titanium case, new fitness tracking features, and a longer battery life. The company is also developing a faster chip for its low-cost smartwatch, the Apple Watch SE.

The company plans to stream the event online rather than hold an in-person gathering, a strategy it used at the start of the pandemic. There is no official word on the event's timing, and Apple's spokesperson has remained tight-lipped. Apple's plans may change given that the announcement is still three weeks away, but the company typically unveils the latest iPhones in the first half of September.
