Exterior
The exterior design of both trims incorporates fresh elements, with subtle distinctions. Both Tech and GT Line showcase a new grille, but the GT Line stands out with distributed silver inserts. Further variations include the fog lamp housing, positioned vertically below the headlight unit in the Tech Line and horizontally within the bumper in the GT Line. The lower bumper design differs slightly in the cladding.
While the profile changes are not drastic, the alloy wheel design sets them apart. The Tech Line boasts a more elegant look, while the GT Line opts for a sportier aesthetic. The rear, although similar, features nuanced differences in the bumper, giving the GT Line a more dynamic appeal. Interior and Features
Internally, both trims share a similar dashboard and cabin layout, but their color themes set them apart. The GT Line offers a singular option with an all-black interior and white inserts. On the other hand, the Tech Line provides multiple options, including an all-black theme with semi-leatherette seats in lower-spec trims, a black and beige theme with semi-leatherette dual-tone seats in mid-spec variants, and a black and brown theme with leatherette seats in higher-end variants.
Both trims are well-equipped with features like a wireless phone charger, a 4-way powered driver seat (diesel-iMT in Tech Line), a rear wiper washer, a 7-speaker Bose sound system, an air purifier, anti-glare inside rearview mirror (IRVM), a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The GT Line gains some additional features over the Tech Line, including a 360-degree camera and a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, driver attention warning, and auto emergency braking. The GT Line also adds some aesthetic touches like a leather-wrapped steering wheel with GT Line logo, aluminum pedals, and black leatherette seats.
Powertrains
The powertrain options remain consistent with the previous model, except for the reintroduction of a manual transmission for the diesel engine. Notably, the GT Line exclusively offers automatic transmission options, limited to the turbo-petrol and diesel engines. In contrast, the Tech Line provides flexibility with all three engine offerings.
Expected Launch and Prices
The facelifted Sonet is anticipated to hit the market in early 2024, with prices expected to commence from approximately Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned to renew its rivalry with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite, the 2024 Kia Sonet aims to capture the sub-compact SUV segment with its refreshed design and enhanced features.
