2024 Kia Sonet Adds Sunroof to New Variants at Budget-Friendly Prices

Kia India has updated its Sonet lineup for 2024, adding new variants and making popular features like the sunroof more accessible across its range. The purpose of these changes is to increase the Sonet's appeal and sales in the competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment.

Introduction of New Variants with Sunroof

The newly launched variants, HTE (O) and HTK (O), are designed to bring the sunroof feature to more affordable price points. These variants are available with both the 1.2L Naturally Aspirated Petrol and the 1.5L Diesel powertrains, paired with manual transmissions—a 5-speed for the 1.2L Petrol and a 6-speed for the 1.5L Diesel.

Additional Features and Exterior Colors

To differentiate these new variants further, Kia has also introduced additional exterior colors for the HTE and HTK trims, including Aurora Black, Imperial Blue, and Pewter Olive. The HTK (O) trim benefits from extra features such as LED connected tail lights, fully automatic climate control, and a rear defogger, on top of the existing HTK trim features. Additionally, the HTX+ and GTX+ trims now feature auto up/down functionality for all windows.

Strategic Pricing and Variant Expansion

The addition of these variants takes the total number of Sonet variants to 23, with the HTE (O) 1.2L NA Petrol MT variant priced at Rs. 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable sunroof option in the lineup. This strategic move is not just about increasing the number of variants but also about making in-demand features like sunroofs available at more accessible price points directly addressing customer demands.

Kia's Commitment to Excellence

Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales and Business Officer at Kia India, highlighted the positive feedback the new Sonet has received since its launch a few months ago. He highlighted the company's goal of making luxurious facilities more accessible to entry and mid-variant buyers, showing Kia's commitment to providing high-quality features at all price points. Sohn further stated that the Sonet has the lowest maintenance cost in its sector, increasing its total attractiveness to discerning clients.

With these updates, Kia India reinforces its position in the sub-4-meter SUV segment, competing with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. The 2024 Kia Sonet's new variants and features are a testament to the brand's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers.
