Keep it simple, and keep it affordable. A lightweight naturally aspirated sports coupe with great handling. It's basically a step up from the GR86 but below the Supra.

The discontinuation wasn't a mistake but the timing of it was off. Had they just held out a little longer, they could have turned it into a fun, efficient car during the late 2000s recession.

Interior mods are underrated. People will be more impressed by a fully custom interior with nice materials and killer audio setup than by another body kit.

Personally, I'd say no. For new drivers, something more forgiving is where to focus learning. Someone who’s just beginning to learn how to drive might find the Celica’s sportier handling and lack of visibility a bit much.

I think the 6th gen (1994-1999) is underrated. The 5th gen design was refined, and had some solid engine options. And it’s also getting into the classic territory now.
