It depends on execution. Even a well designed adapted platform could be better than a mediocre ground up EV platform.

The biggest advantage may be in brand perception. It sounds more advanced and appealing to tech savvy buyers if it is 'born electric'.

But I’m more interested in the battery tech and the charging capabilities. If those aren’t competitive, the platform type doesn’t matter as much.

The concept will be nowhere near the production version. The designs are always watered down to make them cheaper to produce. A generic crossover shape with some fancy lights is what you'll get.

Tata will keep a lot of the futuristic elements, I think. They have to do something radical to compete with Tesla and the premium German EVs. Playing it safe won't cut it.

I think they'll keep 70-80% of the concept design. The glass roof and funky doors will probably be dialed back, but the overall shape and styling will probably be pretty close.

If they keep the exterior fairly true to the concept, I bet the interior gets completely redesigned to be more practical and cost effective.

Tata has no way to match Tesla's range. They don't have the battery tech or the experience. Expect 350-400 km max.

Tata will surprise us, I think. They've been working on EV tech for years, and have JLR's expertise, so a 500+ km range is definitely possible.

Range isn't everything. But if Tata can give 400-450 km with super fast charging, it's more than enough for most users.

India doesn’t need Tesla’s range. Instead of trying to chase big range numbers, Tata should spend its efforts in making charging more convenient and accessible.

Tata will probably succeed in crafting the Avinya with decent range, but its true challenge will be to build out a credible fast charging network to rival Tesla’s Superchargers.

Tata will probably offer multiple battery options I bet. A cheaper version could do 400-450 km, and a long range version could go to 600 km to match Tesla.
