Will the futuristic design of the Tata Avinya see production?

When it was unveiled in 2024, the Tata Avinya concept car was an eye catching, futuristic design that everyone loved. Its sleek lines, panoramic glass roof and suicide doors led to an interior that felt like you’re in one of those sci fi films. But when it comes to production, concept cars tend to get toned down quite a bit. The question is whether such an avant garde design can be feasibly manufactured at scale and still meet safety and practicality requirements. A few are concerned the production version will look much more conventional and lose the wow factor of the concept. Some say the Avinya's design needs to be risky and boundary pushing if Tata wants to stand out in the premium EV segment. It's the debate of how much of the concept's futuristic elements will make it to showrooms.

The concept will be nowhere near the production version. The designs are always watered down to make them cheaper to produce. A generic crossover shape with some fancy lights is what you'll get.

Tata will keep a lot of the futuristic elements, I think. They have to do something radical to compete with Tesla and the premium German EVs. Playing it safe won't cut it.

I think they'll keep 70-80% of the concept design. The glass roof and funky doors will probably be dialed back, but the overall shape and styling will probably be pretty close.

If they keep the exterior fairly true to the concept, I bet the interior gets completely redesigned to be more practical and cost effective.

Lately, Tata has been getting bolder with their designs. I wouldn't be shocked if they stretch their legs and keep a lot of the futuristic elements. It would be a perfect halo car for the brand.
