Is the tradeoff in performance for the CT100B worth the fuel efficiency?

The Bajaj CT100B is popular for its great fuel efficiency, which is also the main selling point of this popular bike. But the price of this is power and performance, with the bike struggling up steep inclines or with heavy loads. As a result, there has been debate as to whether the fuel savings are worth the trade off for riders that need more versatility out of their motorcycle. Some say the lack of power is made up for by the money saved on fuel, others are frustrated by the bike’s limitations. The main question whether CT100B is good for city commuting or rural transportation is also discussed. Of course, there’s also the long term cost question – does the reduced fuel consumption make up for the potential maintenance issues that could arise from riding the bike beyond its comfort zone?

Absolutely! The slower acceleration is totally worth it, I save so much on fuel.

No way. I'd rather pay a little bit more for fuel, so I can actually enjoy riding my bike.

It depends on your needs. It’s perfect for city commuting. However, for highways or hilly areas you may need something more grunt.

Great fuel efficiency, just wish they could find a way to add a little more power to the balance.

I believe people overstate how underpowered it is. It’s not a sports bike, but it does the job for most everyday tasks.

My budget lifesaver is the fuel efficiency, but I wish for more power sometimes when I’m hauling a passenger.

It's all about expectations. If you buy it with the knowledge of its limitations, you'll be happy with the fuel savings.
