Is the Maruti Tour H3 just a WagonR rebadged for taxi fleets?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
The Maruti Tour H3 is essentially the stripped down WagonR for commercial use. Is there more to it than that, though? While some say it’s a smart move by Maruti to capture the taxi market, others think it’s a move to help Maruti sell more WagonR’s. The debate then rages over whether this strategy dilutes the WagonR brand, or if it is a win win for both private and commercial customers. This also brings up a conversation around how this perception of WagonR among regular buyers affects the desirability of buying the car for personal use? Or does it confirm its status as reliable and practical?

You guys don't get it. And that makes the Tour H3 great for the taxi market as well as for regular WagonR buyers. That keeps the overall cost of the car down by economies of scale. Win-win!

I'm not too pleased as a WagonR owner. The appeal of seeing my car as a taxi everywhere is kinda ruined. I wish Maruti would keep the commercial and personal things separate.

Come on, it’s just Maruti inflating their sales numbers. To remain on top of the charts they count Tour H3 sales on top of regular WagonR sales. Asking me, it's a bit sneaky.

I disagree. While the Tour H3 is little more than a rebadged WagonR, it’s a little more than that. It's commercial tuned, different gear ratios and suspension setup. The WagonR’s hardworking cousin.

Yes, it’s a rebadged WagonR, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. That's what the Tour H3 is, basically — Maruti's way of saying “Hey, this car is so good and reliable, even taxi drivers want it!” It's a smart business move.
