Is the Mahindra New Bolero still a relevant SUV purchase in 2016?

For decades, in Indian automotive landscape, The Mahindra Bolero has been a staple often due to its rugged build and utilitarian design. But with the spate of feature rich compact SUVs and crossovers, many are questioning if the New Bolero can still cut it. Traditionally the vehicle's target market has been rural areas and government fleets, but the urban buyer is looking for more refined options. Updates to the New Bolero try to achieve the right balance between keeping what the Bolero is known for and attracting a wider audience. That said, it raises the question of how competitive it is when measured up against what the market at that price point more recently provides. Relevance of the New Bolero is debated on the lines of practicality versus comfort, tradition versus innovation and how the Indian car buyer's preferences are changing.

Absolutely! The New Bolero is the Nokia 3310 of cars, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but it will outlive your fancy smartphones. It’s the most reliable for rural areas and tough terrains.

Nah, it's a dinosaur. Yes, it's hard, but many modern SUVs are also hard, and they still give you comfort and safety features. Mahindra’s New Bolero is stuck in the past, and it’s time for the company to let it go.

It’s relevant, but in a niche fashion. Not everyone has to have a tech loaded SUV. The New Bolero is for some folks who just want a no nonsense, go anywhere vehicle.

I believe it's still relevant, but Mahindra needs to step up their game. I add some basic modern features without compromising on the Bolero's core strengths. They’ve got potential, but they’re not entirely utilizing them.

The New Bolero has never been more relevant! It’s kind of refreshing to see an honest to goodness utility vehicle with all these soft roaders masquerading as SUVs. You know, not everyone wants a rolling smartphone.
