Is the CNG system of Bajaj Freedom 125 NG04 Drum really practical for daily use?

The Bajaj Freedom 125 NG04 Drum is touted to be the first CNG powered motorcycle in the world and has a unique bi fuel system that allows it to run on both CNG and petrol. This innovative approach will reduce emissions, save cost, and yet it is a question of how practical it is to use a CNG motorcycle everyday. The limited number of CNG filling stations, long refueling time, and weight and handling problems caused by the CNG tank have been areas of concern. Furthermore, there have been some reports of power delivery problems when changing between fuel types. Even the debate is continued as to whether the potential fuel cost savings are worth the inconvenience and limitations of the CNG system in areas where CNG infrastructure isn’t well developed. Discussion has been generated on the real world practicality of CNG powered motorcycles as a sustainable alternative to conventional petrol bikes.

If you live in a city with good CNG infrastructure, then it’s a game changer. You're doing something good for the environment and you're saving fuel like crazy.

Practical? In theory, perhaps, but have you seen how few CNG stations there are? And you'd spend half your life planning routes around fuel stops.

It seems brilliant for delivery guys or anyone who rides the same fixed route every day. This way they can save a ton of money in the long run, and plan their refueling.

The dual fuel system is pretty clever actually. If you run out of CNG, you can always use petrol. You sort of have a built in backup plan.

To be honest, it's a hassle. The tank takes up space, it takes longer to fill up, and you’re always worrying about running out of CNG. I'll stick with petrol, thanks.

It has nothing to do with practicality, it's about being an early adopter. New tech has to be paved by someone, and this bike is that someone.

Apparently, the power delivery is inconsistent when switching between fuels. Just that alone would make me crazy on a daily commute.
