Honda’s dealer network is much more robust. The CB500F certainly has a big plus for maintenance and repairs.

I suspect the Duke 490 would have come with better suspension out of the box. That’s an area KTM usually nails.

The CB500F is proven. I’d wait a couple of years before considering a first-gen Duke 490.

In terms of style, the Duke would be a hands-down winner. Honda's designs are just more boring than KTM's.
Which bike is better for Urban Adventures, the Yamaha BW’s 125 or the Honda ADV150?
10 January 2025 07:37
The BW 125 is more nimble in tight city spaces and easier to maneuver. I think it has the edge over the bulkier ADV150 in terms of pure urban use.

You can’t beat the quality that Honda builds. Taller and chunkier, the ADV150 also feels more premium, something that gives you more confidence on longer rides or rough terrain.

I've ridden both, and the ADV150 has much more power to it. Highways are more comfortable and passing power in traffic is better.

The BW's 125 is cheaper to buy and maintain, and has better fuel economy. It's the smarter choice for budget conscious riders.

I like the quirkiness of the BW’s styling wise. To me, the ADV150 looks a little too much like a shrunken Africa Twin.

The ADV150's bigger wheels and higher level of suspension superiority makes it a runaway when the pavement ends. If you’re going to do any real off road riding, it’s the better choice.

The BW's 125 was for pure fun factor. The result is playful and encourages you to explore urban nooks and crannies. The ADV150 is great, but it’s almost too serious sometimes.

Urban adventurers need storage space, and the ADV150 offers a lot more under seat storage. And that's big plus for day trips or grocery runs.

The BW's 125, I think, does a better job of capturing the urban adventure. The ADV150 feels like it’s trying too hard to be a ‘real’ adventure bike, while the ADV feels like a scrappy underdog punching above its own weight class.

I rode both, and the Z500 feels sportier. Handling is a bit sharper; on the engine, it has a bit more punch. I like it more fun bike to ride.

CB500F all the way. All in all the bike just feels more refined and above all, Honda's reliability is unbeatable. Also, it’s been around longer, so there are tons of aftermarket parts.

Honestly, they're so close that it's just which one do you think looks better. While I prefer the Z500's no holds barred stylings I can see why some might like the CB's cleaner lines.

Powerwise, the Z500 has a tiny edge, but the engine on the CB500's is smoother. I'd get the Honda for commuting and all around purposes.

The Z500 is a newer model, and has more up to date tech features. The LED lighting is a nice touch and that TFT display is gorgeous. It feels more modern overall.

I've had both, and I think the Z500 is more exciting, but the CB500F is more practical. It depends on what you want in a bike.

The Z500's engine revs higher, making it more fun on twisty roads, but the CB500F's low end torque is great in the city. It's a tough choice!
