Nah, it's not too much. For beginners, the Rebel 1100 has riding modes to tame it down. You just start in rain mode, and you’re good to go.

It’s a first bike; I’d say it’s pushing it. It's still heavy and powerful; sure, it has modes. It’s better to learn on something smaller and work your way up.

It depends on the rider. If you are mature and cautious, you could start on the 1100. Just respect the power and go slow.

It was great on an 1100, so I started. Even for newbies, the DCT option makes it easier. No clutch to worry about!

Too much bike? Maybe. You'll outgrow a 300 or 500 in no time, but. Starting out on the 1100 is fine, and grow into it.

For a beginner, I think it's risky. It could be intimidating just on its own. Start on a 500 and upgrade later on.

If you take an MSF course first and practice in parking lots, the 1100 is fine. It’s all about the rider, not the bike.

For most beginners, I’d say no. It’s not just about power, but also a heavier bike to handle. The 500 is a better starting point.
How customizable is the CB150R Streetster for personal style?

The CB150R has been surprisingly customizable. The bike is super popular in Thailand and Indonesia, so there are tons of bolt on parts available online. Now it's got a belly pan, a tail tidy and bar end mirrors and it looks like a completely different bike.

I honestly think it looks best stock. Honda did a great job with the design, and all the mods I’ve seen just make it look tacky. Instead, save your money for gear or gas.

It’s still a scene, but it’s still limited compared to what something like a Yamaha XSR155 can do. You can certainly do that, but you’ll have to do some hunting for parts or even have some custom made.

Mine is full cafe racer, clip ons, rear sets, custom seat. It was a little work, but it's a real head turner now. The sky’s the limit if you’re willing to do the work.

Just make sure not to do performance mods. I’ve even seen people void their warranty with aftermarket exhausts and ECU tunes. If you want to keep Honda happy, stick to cosmetic changes.

A wrap is the best mod I’ve done. It was cheap and it really changed the look of the bike. Plus it preserves the original paint in case I ever want to sell it.

A 3D printed parts scene is growing for the CB150R. I've printed my own gauge cluster surround, and some other small bits. Creating truly unique parts is a fun way to do it.

I believe that it makes a great bike to learn on. There are tons of YouTube tutorials, and the owner's manual is really detailed. I have performed all my own oil changes and basic maintenance without a problem.

Not as easy as some older bikes, but it’s OK. Some tasks can be a pain to remove the fairings for. If you want to get really DIY, you might want something a little more bare bones.

It's a good middle ground, I'd say as a mechanic. It's not so modern that you have to know about fuel injection and ABS to learn how to drive it, but it's modern enough to teach you about fuel injection and ABS, and not so modern that you need special tools to do it. So all you have to do is relax and follow the manual.

It’s been pretty beginner friendly for me. The only tricky part was setting the valve clearance, but you don't do that all that often. Everything else is straightforward.

That depends on your mechanical aptitude. If you're handy in general you'll be fine. If you have never turned a wrench before, you probably could start with something that is even simpler than a Honda Cub.
