Is the Chetak Urbane’s range fear in everyday commuter’s life?

City use is fine with the range, but it would limit you for longer trips. It’s happened a couple of times that I’ve had to cancel weekend plans, because I wasn’t sure I would get there and back without charging.

I believe that the range anxiety is more psychological than practical for most users. After a few days, you get in the habit of plugging it in every night and it becomes no different than charging your phone.

I know this, as I used to ride a petrol scooter and actually find the Chetak less anxiety inducing. No more last minute rushes to the petrol pump because I'm running late!

It has a bit tight range for my liking. If Bajaj had chosen to go for a slightly bigger battery, it could have been at a higher price, but I wish it had. An extra 20-30 km of range would be a big difference in peace of mind.

It’s definitely a pain point when it comes to boot space. There’s not even enough room for my half face helmet, let alone groceries. This has caused me to rethink how I do my errands.

I don't think it's that bad. Yes it’s smaller than my old Activa but I’ve adjusted. Now I use a backpack for most things, which is actually more comfortable for riding.

It's a deal-breaker for me. The Chetak is no good, I need to carry my laptop and lunch to work. I actually got another scooter with more storage.

The limited boot space has actually been a blessing in disguise. This has made me declutter and only bring what I really need. And it helps keep the weight down, which is good for range.

If you’re used to stuffing your scooter full of things, it’s definitely impractical. How often do you actually need to carry that much stuff? It's fine for most daily use.

In order to solve this, I added a top box. Problem solved, and I actually have more secure storage than most other scooters.

There’s not much boot space, but that’s a fair trade off for the sleek design and electric powertrain. Can't have everything, right?

I don’t want to give a false impression that I have ridden my Chetak through some serious downpours, but it has held up fine. So far, no performance or electrical gremlins. I think people are needlessly paranoid.

I’ve had some scary moments in the rain, maybe you’ve been lucky. I once rode through a deep puddle and the scooter shut off completely. Not fun in heavy traffic!

No scooter is ideal in heavy rain, but then again, no scooter is. Same as any other two wheeler, I just slow down and avoid deep water.

The monsoon performance is a real concern, I live in Mumbai. On really rainy days I find myself leaving the Chetak at home and using other transport options. It’s not confidence inspiring.

Bajaj needs to improve waterproofing, I think. For the price we're paying it should be able to cope with rain without us worrying about damaging the electrics.

I’ve done some DIY waterproofing around critical areas and it’s made a huge difference. It's a little extra protection in wet conditions.

It doesn’t perform well in the rain, but that’s not a deal breaker for me. When I can, I just plan my trips around the weather. At least it’s better than getting drenched on a regular scooter!

Keyless operation is honestly more trouble than it's worth. I've had my Chetak for about 6 months now and at least once a month I find myself struggling with delayed starts. When you're in a hurry, it's super annoying.

The keyless feature is actually something I love! Oh, it’s so easy not having to dig for keys when I’m lugging groceries. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, but yeah, it’s been smooth sailing for me.
