Can the Dominar 250 do two up and luggage?

It's surprisingly capable two-up. While the extra weight pushes the suspension, the power is good for cruising. But don't expect to be breaking any speed records loaded up.

I find it has a bit of trouble carrying a pillion and luggage, especially on inclines. You really feel the weight of the engine, and it feels strained. Long trips aren’t ideal but it’s doable.

It's all about managing expectations. It’s a great weekend getaway with a light pillion. If you need more grunt for extended touring with a heavy passenger and full luggage you may want something a little more powerful.

I've done quite a few trips two up and that's been fine. The trick is to tune the preload and tire pressures at the rear. Also, spend a bit on some good luggage solutions – the stock grab rails aren't great for securing bags.

On a day trip it was comfortable enough as a pillion, but anything longer and I start to feel the lack of space and support. Two people are a bit tight in the seat.

But it does ride two up better than I expected. With the chassis fully loaded it still feels stable. It's power wise, you just need to be a bit more proactive with your overtakes and use the gears.

For two up riding, I think it’s one of the better options in its class. It has a long wheelbase which helps with stability, and even if the extra weight does slow the engine down a touch, it still pulls well. You should just be prepared for more frequent fuel stops.

I have 30,000 km on mine and no major issues. It's been just regular maintenance, and it's been solid. Other than that, the build quality seems a step up from other Bajaj bikes I've owned.

It's hit or miss. My friend's Dominar has been trouble free but mine's been having electrical gremlins from day one. Bajaj's QC seems inconsistent.

For the price, it's pretty good. Some switchgear is cheap feeling but the core components are solid. It treats you well, just keep an eye on the chain tension.

It's been surprisingly robust. I dropped mine a couple times off road and it held up great. While the paint could be better (it chips easy), it still looks pretty good.

Reliability was OK, but little things keep popping up. Stuff like loose bolts, a finicky fuel gauge. Not anything major, but it’s annoying for a 'premium' bike.

The Dominar’s build quality felt a bit lacking, coming from bikes from Japanese bikes. 2 years of ownership have impressed me with how it’s held up to daily use though.

It's been a mixed bag for me. The engine and chassis have been bulletproof but the electricals have been a problem and there are a few rust spots starting to appear. These have been hit or miss for Bajaj’s service in resolving.
What does the Dominar 250's weight do to its everyday usability?
29 January 2025 08:04
People make it out to be worse than it really is, honestly. Once you’re moving, the weight goes away. It is only really noticeable when trying to park or navigate really tight spaces.
