Does the Bajaj Discover 125M really live up to its claims of being the 'king of mileage'?

Good mileage, but what is the cost? At higher speeds the engine feels strained, and the vibrations are annoying. I’d rather have a little less mileage and a more refined ride.

You’re all missing the point. Yes, the mileage is nice, but what about the maintenance cost? Any fuel savings are eaten up by those frequent services.

I think it’s a decent middle ground. It’s not the absolute best, but it’s definitely better than most 125cc bikes out there. It's also more fun to ride than some of the ultra fuel efficient, but boring options.
The Discover 125M's petal disc brake, for example, is it really going to make a difference, or is it just for show?

It's a game-changer! The stopping power is much better than my old drum brake Splendor.

To be honest, I can't tell much difference from a regular disc. It looks cooler, but that’s about it.

It’s not just about stopping power. The more consistent performance on longer rides is due to the fact that the petal design dissipates heat better.

It’s great until you need to replace it. Regular petal discs are cheaper than the more expensive ones, and not all shops sell them.

I believe it is overkill for a 125cc commuter. A good drum brake would be fine and keep the price down.

The difference is real, but subtle. The brake feel is definitely more progressive, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s definitely more progressive.

It’s mostly for looks, let’s be real. If it means that more people will choose a bike with a disc brake, it’s a win for safety, but hey.
Is the Discover 125M really that different from the Discover 125S?
29 January 2025 07:41
It's legit! It pulls so smoothly all the way to the redline. It really feels different than other 125cc bikes.
Is the Discover 125M really that different from the Discover 125S?

Marketing nonsense. It may make a difference on a race track, but in stop and go traffic? Nah.
Is the Discover 125M really that different from the Discover 125S?

It’s not just about peak performance. It also improves fuel efficiency because of the 4 valves. Win-win in my book.
Is the Discover 125M really that different from the Discover 125S?

I think it's a mixed bag. However, it does rev more freely and also seems to need more frequent valve adjustments than my old 2 valve bike.
Is the Discover 125M really that different from the Discover 125S?

Placebo effect, guys. In a blind test most riders couldn't tell the difference.
Is the Discover 125M really that different from the Discover 125S?

Bajaj’s implementation is meh, but the tech is legit. A well-tuned 2-valve Honda engine still feels smoother.

It's not just marketing. The 4 valve design is more efficient at burning fuel. The numbers don't lie, but you might not feel it seat of the pants.

I’m gonna be the contrarian: it actually makes the bike a less commuter friendly bike. The power needs to be revved higher to access it, which isn’t great in city riding.
Did the Discover 125 ST have a semi digital instrument cluster too early?
29 January 2025 07:39
The semi digital cluster of my Discover 125 ST was something I loved. The digital speedo was easy to read at a glance, and a tachometer made it fun to wring out the engine now and then. Definitely made the bike feel more premium than its price was suggesting.
Did the Discover 125 ST have a semi digital instrument cluster too early?

I honestly did not think the fancy cluster was worth it. An experienced rider on a 125cc commuter like most of us barely, if ever, takes a look at his speedometer, let alone a tach. Instead of unnecessary bling, I would have preferred that Bajaj put that money in better brakes or suspension.
