Volkswagen Vento TSi Automatic

About
The Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic is a mid-size sedan that has undergone significant updates to comply with BS6 emission norms. It is now powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine, producing 108.5 bhp and 175 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This combination offers strong mid-range performance and a smooth driving experience, making it suitable for both city and highway driving. The Vento features a well-tuned suspension that handles various road conditions with ease, and its steering provides a reassuring heft, especially during cornering. Safety features include four airbags, ABS with EBD, rain-sensing wipers, and a rear camera. The interior is equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, and other convenience features, although it misses out on some modern amenities like cooled seats and connected car technology. Overall, the Vento TSI Automatic is a solid choice for those seeking a balanced blend of performance, comfort, and safety in the mid-size sedan segment.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic is a compelling package that balances performance, comfort, and safety. While it has transitioned from the revered 1.2 TSI and DSG combination to a 1.0 TSI engine paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic, it still manages to deliver a smooth and responsive driving experience. The new powertrain, although not as refined as its predecessor, is well-suited for daily driving, especially in city conditions where its strong mid-range and quick response to throttle input are appreciable. The Ventos handling and ride quality are also noteworthy, making it a drivers car that feels rock solid on highways and comfortable on varied road conditions. However, it does lack some modern features that are now standard in its segment, which might be a consideration for some buyers.
Price
The Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom prices for the automatic variants start at around Rs. 12.10 lakh for the Highline trim and go up to Rs. 13.30 lakh for the Highline Plus trim. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from approximately Rs. 14.5 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes the Vento a viable option, especially considering its performance and safety features, which undercut many of its rivals in the segment.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 11:04 AM Volkswagen has discontinued several variants of the Vento, including the 1.0 TSI Highline Plus AT and the 1.5 TDI Highline Plus AT, as part of its recent updates to the model lineup. This move is aimed at streamlining the offerings and focusing on the most popular configurations. I think this will help in reducing complexity and making the buying decision easier for customers.
Tuesday, 15 October 2024 09:47 AM The Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic now comes with a sole engine option, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 110PS and 175Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This setup offers a balance between performance and fuel efficiency, with a claimed mileage of 16.35 kmpl. I believe this engine is quite capable for city driving and occasional highway trips.
Wednesday, 25 September 2024 06:22 PM The Vento TSI Automatic features a range of modern amenities, including automatic climate control, rear AC vents, parking sensors, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, it lacks some contemporary features like cooled seats, sunroof, and connected car technology, which might be a drawback for some buyers. I think these omissions make the Vento feel a bit dated compared to its competitors.
Friday, 30 August 2024 03:55 PM In terms of safety, the Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic is equipped with up to four airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. These features enhance the safety profile of the vehicle, making it a reliable choice in its segment. I believe safety should always be a top priority, and the Vento does a good job in this regard.
Sunday, 21 July 2024 12:35 AM The ride quality of the Vento TSI Automatic is notable, with a firmer ride at low speeds that smooths out as the speed increases. The car handles well, especially on highways, thanks to its McPherson struts in the front and a semi-independent trailing arm setup at the rear. I think this makes the Vento a comfortable choice for long drives.
Saturday, 15 June 2024 07:08 AM Volkswagen India has introduced various special editions of the Vento over the years, such as the Vento Sport Edition and the Vento Connect Edition, to keep the model fresh and appealing. These editions often come with additional features and visual upgrades, making the Vento more attractive to potential buyers. I believe these special editions help in keeping the Vento relevant in a competitive market.
Saturday, 25 May 2024 02:32 PM The Vento TSI Automatic has a boot space of 494 litres, which is quite generous for a compact sedan. This, combined with its comfortable seating for five, makes it a practical choice for daily use. I think the spacious boot is a significant advantage for those who need to carry luggage or other items frequently.
Wednesday, 10 April 2024 06:06 AM The automatic transmission in the Vento TSI Automatic is a 6-speed torque converter, which offers a smooth and refined driving experience, especially in city conditions. However, it lacks the refinement and smoothness of the previous 7-speed DSG gearbox. I believe this is a trade-off for keeping costs down without compromising too much on performance.
Wednesday, 20 March 2024 08:57 AM The Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic competes directly with other compact sedans like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Skoda Slavia. Its solid build quality, refined engine, and sporty handling make it a strong contender in this segment. I think the Ventos build quality is one of its standout features.
Friday, 16 February 2024 01:25 AM Volkswagen has been working on improving the Ventos features and design, with minor tweaks such as a redesigned front bumper and new grille, as seen in the 2019 facelift. These updates help in maintaining the vehicles appeal in the market. I believe these minor updates are crucial for keeping the Vento looking fresh.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 10:44 PM The mileage of the Volkswagen Vento TSI Automatic is a crucial factor for many buyers. In real-world conditions, the car delivers an average mileage of around 14.8 kml, as reported by several owners and reviewers. This figure is respectable given the cars performance capabilities and the typical driving conditions in India. While it may not be the most fuel-efficient option in its class, the Ventos mileage is satisfactory and should not be a major concern for those prioritizing a blend of performance and economy.
