The design of the Land Cruiser Mini is actually one of those things that propelled me really into this. Boxy silhouette and ruff aesthetics reminisce to such an iconic heritage. The previews I have caught show the vehicle is running C-shaped LED daytime running lights and a large front grille along with a solid bumper, something similar to a Land Cruiser but in a more compact package.

And it gets even better because the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It seems Toyota wants this Mini version to be just as much about tech and comfort as it is about adventure.

Power and Performance
Performance now is where things get really exciting. Rumored to borrow a 2.0L gasoline engine capable of pushing out 169 HP, the Mini isn’t exactly a slouch in this class. Some hybrid option is also in the talk, which could seduce the accelerators of better efficient fuel. At least on paper, this compact SUV appears to have the chops for some legitimate off-road performance, boasting approach and departure angles that seem highly prepared for rough ground.

It has a towing capacity of up to 1500 kg, but not just for off-road, it's practical enough for a little bit of work. This SUV is covered whether you’re looking to tow a trailer for a weekend trip or carry around some heavy loads.

And Toyota isn’t skimping on safety either. The Land Cruiser Mini is expected to come with the latest in active safety systems, including:

When you put the Mahindra Thar or Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the same context, the Land Cruiser Mini is a premium option for compact off-road and SUV segments. While the Thar is all about ruggedness and may have more of a raw off-road appeal, Toyota’s Land Cruiser Mini will certainly offer a more refined drive. Especially if you’re willing to drop a bit more cash for a Toyota and the Land Cruiser name, it’s going to be a strong contender.

This might be the one for you if you’re interested in a vehicle that can navigate around the city and into the wild for the weekend too. When it finally hits the market, it’s high on my list of vehicles to check out, though.
