Maruti NEXA S-cross Diesel Zeta

About
The Maruti NEXA S-Cross Diesel Zeta is a crossover that stands out for its practicality and comfort. It features a 1.3-litre diesel engine producing 90PS and 200Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle boasts a solid build quality, a spacious interior with good legroom, and a boot space of 353 litres. The ride quality is excellent, handling Indian roads with ease, and the SHVS technology enhances both fuel efficiency and low-speed driveability. The Zeta variant comes with a range of features including all-LED headlamps, leather upholstery, and cruise control, making it a well-equipped and comfortable choice for family use or long road trips. However, it lacks rear AC vents and a more powerful engine option, which might be a consideration for some buyers. Overall, the S-Cross Zeta is a reliable and feature-rich vehicle that is well-suited for Indian driving conditions.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti NEXA S-Cross Diesel Zeta is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and practical crossover. It boasts a robust build quality that feels premium, and its ride comfort is commendable, especially over rough Indian roads. The 1.3-litre diesel engine, though not the most powerful, is aided by the Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) which enhances fuel efficiency and driveability at slow speeds. However, it can feel strained during quick overtaking maneuvers, requiring gear shifts to maintain pace. The absence of rear AC vents and the lack of a more powerful engine option might be drawbacks, but overall, the S-Cross Zeta offers a well-rounded package with good interior space, comfortable seating, and a lengthy feature list.
Price
In India, the ex-showroom price for the Maruti NEXA S-Cross Diesel Zeta can vary depending on the location, but it generally falls around 9.87 lakhs to 10.5 lakhs. Adding the RTO charges, insurance, and other costs, the on-road price can range from approximately 11.25 lakhs to 12.5 lakhs. For instance, in Nagpur, the total on-road price was calculated to be around 11,25,946, including corporate discounts and freebies like seat covers, car covers, and extended warranties. This pricing makes the S-Cross Zeta a competitive option in its segment, offering good value for money.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 08:58 PM Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the S-Cross and replaced it with the Grand Vitara, marking the end of the S-Crosss run in the Indian market. The S-Cross Zeta was one of the popular variants, known for its features like electrically foldable ORVMs and reverse parking sensors. I think this move will help Maruti Suzuki focus on more modern and competitive models.
Wednesday, 27 September 2023 09:26 PM The Maruti S-Cross Zeta, with its 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel engine, offered a fuel efficiency of 25.1 kmpl, making it a favorite among those looking for a fuel-efficient SUV. The Zeta variant also came with a manual 5-gear transmission and features like cruise control and a speed alert system. I believe the fuel efficiency was one of its strongest selling points.
Thursday, 06 August 2020 12:33 AM In 2020, Maruti Suzuki updated the S-Cross with a new 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine, but the diesel variants like the Zeta were still popular for their torque and performance. The Zeta variant retained its appeal with features such as steering-mounted audio controls and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. I think the diesel engines performance was hard to match with the new petrol option.
Thursday, 28 September 2017 05:24 PM The S-Cross Zeta was part of a facelift launched in 2017, which included significant design changes such as a new grille with thick chrome surround and vertical slats, and redesigned headlamps. This update also brought in new features like automatic climate control and keyless start. I believe the facelift really enhanced the cars appeal.
Monday, 30 January 2017 06:54 PM Maruti Suzuki had discontinued the lower variants of the S-Cross with the 1.6-litre engine in 2017, making the Zeta variant one of the few options left with the more powerful engine. However, this move was later reversed, and the Zeta continued to be offered with the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 engine. I think this decision helped maintain a balanced lineup.
Friday, 20 May 2016 02:33 PM In 2016, Maruti Suzuki recalled 20,427 units of the S-Cross due to a suspected fault in the brake part, which included both DDiS 200 and DDiS 320 variants. This recall was part of a service campaign to ensure safety standards. I believe such proactive measures are crucial for maintaining customer trust.
Wednesday, 05 August 2015 04:01 PM The S-Cross Zeta was initially launched as part of the Nexa dealership lineup, marking a significant move by Maruti Suzuki to enter the premium segment. The Zeta variant was praised for its luxurious interiors and exterior design. I think the Nexa brand helped elevate the perception of Maruti Suzukis premium offerings.
Saturday, 25 July 2015 10:36 PM The Maruti S-Cross Zeta came with a range of safety features including ABS, driver and co-driver airbags, and a passenger seat belt reminder. These features were part of Maruti Suzukis effort to enhance safety standards in their vehicles. I believe these features were a step in the right direction for safety-conscious buyers.
Monday, 15 June 2015 11:20 PM The S-Cross Zeta offered a spacious boot space of 810 liters and a comfortable seating capacity for five people, making it a practical choice for families. The variant also featured a McPherson strut with coil spring for the front suspension and a torsion beam with coil spring for the rear. I think the comfort and practicality made it a strong contender in its segment.
Friday, 15 May 2015 08:26 AM When launched, the Maruti S-Cross Zeta was priced competitively, with the ex-showroom price starting around Rs. 10.44 lakh in New Delhi. This pricing strategy helped it compete effectively in the compact SUV market. I believe the pricing was a key factor in its initial success.

I am using S-Cross (1.3L Zeta) since last 10 days, the car has awesome interior. It has ample of leg space I must say it is more than Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. Car has descent pick up and power. I am getting the mileage of around 18-19 kmpl in city. Car features (Navigation, Cruise Control) are awesome in this price range. Ground clearance is 180mm which is quite descent and good enough to tackle indian roads. I did not encounter any issue with ground clearance even on bad road conditions. Overall its a value for money

Best Features: Navigation and Cruise Control

Pros: Powerful engine and good leg space

Cons: Look should have been improved

Very Capable Touring Vehicle

The Maruti S-Cross is a very practical product which scores well on ride quality, interior space, equipment and diesel engine performance (1.6L). The main highlights of the interior is the navigation system and 7-inch touchscreen Maruti Smart Play entertainment, which needs some improvement. The front seats are very comfortable with the accurate amount of under thigh and lumbar support. It shows a nice balance in the handling and ride section. This new beauty performs well on bad roads, though the ride quality is quite impressive as compared to Renault Duster. It handles well and is very interesting to drive but the steering lacks some feel. It has a rectangular, well shaped boot which can accommodate 353 litres (810 litres when the rear seats are folded). Wide tyres (205mm) and disc brakes on all wheels increases confidence too. It offers perfect driving position with height adjustable seat and tilt steering.

Best Features: Ride Quality & Good Handling

Pros: Sport interiors, strong performance, finely tuned suspension, feature rich, ride quality, good handling

Cons: Build quality, design
