Maruti Alto 800 LX
General information and overview
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 LX is a compact hatchback designed to meet the needs of small families and urban commuters in India. It is powered by a 796cc F8D engine, producing 48PS at 6000 rpm and 69 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm, paired with a smooth 5-speed manual transmission. The car features a gas-filled McPherson strut suspension at the front and coil spring with gas-filled shock absorbers at the rear, ensuring a comfortable ride. The interior, though not feature-rich, is functional and spacious, with enough room to seat five adults comfortably. The Alto 800 LX also comes with basic amenities like air conditioning, power steering (in the LXI variant), and a simple yet stylish dashboard. It is known for its low ownership costs, good fuel economy, and ease of handling, making it a popular choice in the Indian market.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 LX is a practical and economical choice for those seeking a reliable city car. While it may not excel in terms of power or features, it compensates with its ease of handling, good fuel efficiency, and affordable maintenance. The car is well-suited for narrow streets and heavy traffic, making it a great option for urban commuting. However, it lacks in terms of soundproofing and rear seat comfort, and the design is less than average. For those prioritizing utility and budget-friendliness, the Alto 800 LX does the job well, but it may not be the best choice for those looking for a more enjoyable driving experience or additional features.
Recent news and announcements
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 LX is expected to receive a significant update in 2024, including a new 1-liter, three-cylinder engine that promises better power and mileage. The new model will also feature LED headlamps, front parking sensors, and a longer wheelbase for improved space. I think this update will make the Alto 800 a more competitive option in the entry-level segment.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 was spotted undergoing emission testing in India to comply with BS6 norms. This testing was crucial for the Alto 800 LX variant to meet the new emission standards, ensuring it remains on the market. I believe this compliance is essential for the cars continued success.
Images of the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 facelift have surfaced online, showing the model with new safety features such as passenger airbags and rear parking sensors. The Alto 800 LX variant benefits from these updates, making it a more secure option for buyers. I think these safety additions are a significant improvement.
The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 facelift was launched in India with prices starting at Rs. 2.94 lakh for the base Standard variant and going up to Rs. 3.72 lakh for the top-spec VXI variant. The Alto 800 LX variant is part of this lineup and features a BS6-compliant 796cc, three-cylinder engine producing 47 bhp and 69 Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki has started shipping the 2019 Alto 800 facelift to dealerships across India. This update includes cosmetic upgrades and additional safety features to meet new safety norms. The Alto 800 LX now comes with mandatory safety equipment such as airbags and rear parking sensors. I believe these updates make the Alto a safer and more appealing choice for buyers.
Pricing details and changes
In India, the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 LX is priced competitively to cater to the budget-conscious buyer. The ex-showroom price for the Alto 800 LX typically ranges around 3.5 to 4 lakhs, depending on the region and any additional features or options chosen. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from 4.2 to 4.7 lakhs. This pricing makes the Alto 800 LX an attractive option for first-time car buyers or those looking for a no-frills, economical vehicle. However, its worth noting that the price can feel a bit steep for what you get in terms of features and performance.
Fuel efficiency information
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 LX is renowned for its impressive fuel efficiency, which is a significant factor for many Indian buyers. With an ARAI-rated mileage of 22.7 kmpl, this car is highly fuel-efficient, especially in city driving conditions. In real-world usage, owners have reported mileage ranging from 20-21 kmpl, which is still very commendable. This efficiency, combined with its low maintenance costs, makes the Alto 800 LX an excellent choice for those concerned about running costs and mileage.

sir please tell me the answer
can i drive my cng car on lpg
I am a fan of Maruti 800. See my maruti 800 story in my blog
My long expectations end in disappointment here today. Last year I dropped the plan of buying Hyundai Eon even after initial booking having heard of new version of Alto 800 to release soon. When Manesar agitation took place I was worried about new Alto's late release. I am sure many Indians like me also anticipated to see the older Alto 800 in a completely new dashing looks. On the contrary it might be repackaged with both exterior and interior features at a low cost (again anticipatory 2-2.5 lacs) still the punchy design is missing which could make it stand out in the crowd as it was done by Eon. The new alto looks like a shorter version of K10 (at least the side view) at first look even though it's posing a new set of head and back lights, new grills and some bumpy curves on its body. New Alto even is shorter by 100 mm in length from its earlier version. While Eon makes you feel a big car in a small car, Alto remains as small car in a smaller car, no matter of its slightly increment in width and height! I would say Alto released in China or Maruti Cervo are much much better looking small cars in this segment that we are yet deprived of. Now am waiting to see it in showrooms.
dash board is pathetic, why maruti is so old thinking
the vehile looking so nice i like

I surprise to note that you have not launch
Maruti Cervo Car for middle class family with the reason of poor sale of Tata
Naino. But Sir, Maruti is a branded company and all the production of Maruti vehicles
are running successfully in an Indian Roads. No any complain raise the car owners.
Maruti Cervo is better instead of Tata Naino. Kindly release Maruti Cervo
Before Deepawali.
