USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra XUV500 4x4 Automatic is a robust and feature-rich SUV that has garnered a significant following in India. While it boasts a powerful 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 155bhp and 360Nm of torque, and a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, it also comes with some drawbacks. The vehicles ride quality can be firm, particularly on rough roads, which may not be ideal for all passengers. However, its monocoque construction and improved suspension make it a capable handler. The interior is spacious and well-appointed, with a premium feel thanks to the quilted seats, tan and black interiors, and smart features like the Arkamys sound system and smart watch connectivity. Despite some cost-cutting evident in certain areas, the XUV500 remains a strong contender in its segment, especially for those prioritizing power, space, and off-road capability.
Price
The Mahindra XUV500 4x4 Automatic is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the top-of-the-line W11 trim can range around Rs 16.68 lakh in Delhi. However, the on-road price, including taxes, registration, and other costs, can go up to around Rs 20-22 lakhs depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes it a viable option for those looking for a powerful and feature-packed SUV without breaking the bank. Its important to note that prices can vary slightly based on the region and any additional features or accessories chosen.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 01:53 AM The Mahindra XUV500 2024 is expected to launch in November 2024, and it will be available in both petrol and diesel options, although the automatic variant is likely to be diesel-only. The SUV will feature a 2179 cc diesel engine paired with a manual transmission, but there is speculation about an automatic transmission option. I think the addition of an automatic transmission would make it more appealing to urban buyers.
Monday, 07 October 2024 02:13 PM Mahindra has confirmed that the upcoming XUV700 will not replace the XUV500 immediately, and instead, the XUV500 will be revamped to compete in a different segment. The new XUV500 is expected to rival the Hyundai Creta and other mid-size SUVs. I believe this strategy will help Mahindra cover a broader market spectrum.
Friday, 30 October 2020 01:38 PM Spy photos of the next-generation Mahindra XUV500 have revealed several new features, including a Mercedes-Benz style wide single-unit display with split screens for infotainment and instrumentation. This upgrade suggests a more premium interior experience. I think this will be a significant selling point for the new XUV500.
Wednesday, 14 October 2020 03:00 PM There is speculation that the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 could be equipped with Level 1 autonomous technology, making it the first SUV in its segment to offer such advanced safety features. This would be a significant technological leap for Mahindra. I think this could be a game-changer in the Indian SUV market.
Monday, 05 October 2020 04:28 PM The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing with production-spec parts, including LED taillamps and new alloy wheels. These updates indicate that the SUV is nearing its launch phase. Im excited to see how these new design elements will be received by the market.
Friday, 04 September 2020 02:31 PM Mahindra launched the XUV500 automatic BS6 in September 2020, which came with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine paired with a 6-speed torque converter. This move indicated Mahindras commitment to offering automatic transmission options in their SUV lineup. I believe this was a step in the right direction to cater to a wider audience.
Friday, 26 June 2020 03:37 AM The cabin of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been revealed in spy photos, showing a new multi-functional steering wheel with a flat-bottom design. This suggests a more modern and driver-centric interior. I think this will enhance the overall driving experience.
Tuesday, 10 April 2018 05:48 AM The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift was launched in April 2018, featuring updated exterior styling, new features, and a new infotainment system. Although this is an older update, it sets the stage for the improvements expected in the 2024 model. I believe these updates helped keep the XUV500 competitive in its segment.
Saturday, 07 April 2018 12:42 AM Production-ready units of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift were spotted at dealership yards before its launch, indicating that Mahindra was preparing for a significant rollout. This facelift included several key upgrades that were well-received by the market. I think this facelift was crucial in maintaining the XUV500s market presence.
Tuesday, 03 April 2018 03:32 PM The interior of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift was spied, revealing a decent upgrade in terms of features and design. This upgrade was part of Mahindras effort to keep the XUV500 competitive against rivals like the Tata Hexa and Jeep Compass. I believe these interior updates were a positive move.
