The joint venture between Mahindra and Renault aimed to leverage Mahindras dealership network and Renaults technology. However, the partnership did not yield the expected results, and by 2010, Renault decided to exit the venture. Mahindra then took over and rebranded the car as the Verito. I think this rebranding was a necessary step to revive the cars image.

By April 2010, Renault announced its exit from the joint venture with Mahindra due to the poor performance of the Logan. Mahindra took over the operations, and Renault continued to supply key parts like the engine and transmission. The Logans sales had dipped significantly, from around 2,000 units per month in 2008 to about 350 in March 2010. I think this move was inevitable given the Logans struggles in the Indian market.

In March 2010, the annual sales of the Mahindra Logan dropped to 5,332 units, a decline of over 60% from the previous year. This decline was despite the overall growth in the A3 segment in India. The cars design, pricing, and competition from rivals like Tata Indigo and Maruti Suzuki Dzire were cited as major reasons for this decline. I believe the outdated design was a significant factor in this failure.

The 2008 economic crisis had a significant impact on the sales of the Mahindra Logan. The global recession led to low demand for cars, and the Logan, which was already facing stiff competition, suffered greatly. By the end of 2009, the sales had fallen to around 5,000 units, a sharp drop from the 28,000 units sold in 2008. This economic downturn was a major blow to the cars sales.

By the end of 2009, the Mahindra Logans sales had plummeted, with taxi companies being the primary buyers. The cars practicality and spaciousness made it a favorite among taxi operators, but it failed to attract individual buyers. I believe the cars appeal to taxi companies was one of its few positive aspects.

Despite its spacious interior and good ride quality, the Mahindra Logan was criticized for its hard clutch and steering issues. These problems, combined with the cars other shortcomings, contributed to its poor sales performance. I think addressing these mechanical issues could have improved the cars appeal.
Friday, 01 August 2008 04:11 AM
The Mahindra Logans high price, partly due to its length exceeding 4 meters and the resulting higher excise duty, made it less competitive in the market. The cars price range of Rs. 450,000 to Rs. 570,000 was not justified by its features and design, leading to poor customer perception. I believe the pricing strategy was a significant misstep.

In 2008, the Indian governments restructuring of automotive taxes affected the Mahindra Logan negatively. Cars over 4 meters in length, like the Logan, were taxed at 22%, while sub-4 meter cars were taxed at 10%. This made the Logan more expensive compared to its competitors, leading to a decline in sales. I think this tax policy change was a crucial factor in the Logans struggles.
Friday, 01 June 2007 08:02 AM
The Mahindra Logan faced intense competition from established rivals like the Tata Indigo and Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The cars design, which was favored for function over form, did not appeal to Indian consumers who were looking for more stylish and feature-rich options. This competition further exacerbated the Logans sales struggles. I believe the lack of a compelling design was a key issue here.

The Mahindra Logan was launched in April 2007 as a joint venture between Mahindra and Renault. Despite initial positive reviews for its practical design and competitive pricing, the car failed to gain traction. The target sales of 2,500 units per month were not met, with actual sales hovering around 500 units per month. The cars boxy, outdated design and high price due to taxes were major drawbacks.
