Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4

About
The Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4 is a sub-4 metre SUV that stands out for its unique design and spacious interior. Powered by a 1.2-liter mFALCON G80 engine, it produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. The vehicle features a manual transmission and front-wheel drive. With a ground clearance of 170mm and a boot space of 243 litres, it offers more than what most hatchbacks in its segment provide. The KUV100 also comes with features like power and eco modes, ambient lighting, and a cooled glovebox. While it has its quirks, such as overdone styling and some quality concerns, it remains a viable option for those seeking a compact, city-friendly SUV with good interior space and storage. However, its important to note that the model has been discontinued, so any purchase would be from the used car market.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4 is a unique offering in the sub-4 metre SUV segment, but it comes with its share of pros and cons. On the positive side, the vehicle offers a spacious cabin, good interior space, and plenty of storage options, making it a practical choice for urban driving. The gearshift quality is superb, and the urban ride quality is compliant. However, the styling is overdone, and the side profile can be off-putting for some. The handling, NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), and braking performance are subpar at higher speeds. The engine lacks punch on the highway, and the electric steering is poorly calibrated. Despite these issues, the KUV100 has its strengths, particularly in city driving, but it falls short in several key areas.
Price
The Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4 was priced between Rs. 4.57 lakh to Rs. 5.04 lakh (ex-showroom) when it was available in the market. However, since the model has been discontinued, these prices are no longer applicable for new purchases. For those considering a used model, prices can vary widely depending on the condition, mileage, and location of the vehicle. On-road prices, which include additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other taxes, would have been around Rs. 5.5 lakh to Rs. 6.5 lakh when new. Its crucial to negotiate and inspect the vehicle thoroughly when buying used to ensure you get a fair deal.
Latest Updates
Monday, 11 November 2024 12:53 AM Mahindra has ceased the production of the KUV100 NXT, including the Petrol K4 variant, as part of its strategy to focus on other models. This move comes after the vehicle failed to gain significant traction in the market. I believe this decision is a step towards streamlining their product lineup and focusing on more successful models.
Wednesday, 04 October 2017 10:22 AM The Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4 received a facelift in 2020, which included cosmetic changes and interior updates. The new version retained the same 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 petrol engine, producing 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. I think these updates were necessary to keep the car competitive, but more mechanical upgrades would have been beneficial.
Thursday, 18 February 2016 06:28 PM Mahindra introduced the KUV100 Petrol K4 with several safety features, including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and front seat belt pretensioners. These additions were aimed at enhancing the safety profile of the vehicle. I believe these safety features are crucial and should be standard in all vehicles.
Friday, 15 January 2016 04:46 AM The Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4 was launched with a starting price of around Rs. 4.96 lakh, making it an affordable option in the compact SUV segment. The car was available in various colors and had a seating capacity of 5 or 6 people. I think the pricing was competitive, but the market response was mixed.
Friday, 15 January 2016 07:33 AM The KUV100 Petrol K4 variant was part of the initial launch lineup of the KUV100, which saw over 21,000 bookings within the first month. This indicated strong initial demand, though the vehicles long-term sales were not as robust. I believe the initial hype was promising, but sustained sales required more ongoing improvements.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 07:16 AM The Mahindra KUV100 Petrol K4 offers a mileage of 18.15 kmpl, as certified by ARAI. In real-world conditions, this mileage can vary, but it generally remains one of the better options in its class for fuel efficiency. If you are concerned about mileage and running costs, this vehicle is a decent choice, especially for city driving where it performs well.

Best Value for Money Car

I have K6 variant in petrol version 10 months old 6064 km driven. I have driven the car for longest 600 km for one side in 12 hours time and no temperature problem for long drive. Something about the car that I know about:- Pros are- 1) best in segment for long drive. 2) best pick for bulky car in the competitors. 3) best space in small car for tallest person. 4) mileage is good for a suv car, please do not compare with hatchback cars . below 80 kmph is around 16 kmpl . and 90-100 kmph is around 15 kmpl . and 110 to 120kmph is around 14 kmpl 5) best for driver hand rest. 6) do not like a flying car in the speeds of 120 kmph. 7) for braking and balance. 8) price for mini suv. 9) maintenance cost is less. 10) best for from the base model is EPS,ABS,EBD and airbags. 11) good behaviour , when I was going for the service . Cons- 1) more use of the music system in high volume doors will be making some noise. 2) for a small persons driving is difficult. 3) top speed is only 140kmph. 4) rear look is not good. 5) hand break. 6) tires are small for a mini suv. 7) lack of feature like- parking camera and sensors and keyless start. Make this car in 4M segment . Read the manual for mileage problem ( first 1000 km's you don't think about mileage and pickup) after 1000 driven than you checkout the mileage.

Best Features: Handrest

Pros: Riding for tallest persons

Cons: Hand brake
