Honda has officially discontinued the production and sales of the Honda Mobilio in India, including the Diesel V variant, due to poor sales and increasing competition in the MPV segment. The last recorded price of the Honda Mobilio Diesel V was around Rs. 10.74 Lakh. I think this move was inevitable given the vehicles declining market performance.

The Honda Mobilio Diesel V, known for its 1.5L i-DTEC engine producing 99 bhp, had been facing stiff competition from newer models like the updated Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova. The Mobilios higher pricing compared to its competitors was a significant factor in its declining sales. I believe the pricing strategy was a major misstep for Honda.

Honda unveiled the BR-V at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016, which was seen as a potential replacement for the Mobilio in terms of market positioning. This lack of innovation made it less appealing to potential buyers. It seems Honda missed the mark on keeping the Mobilio updated.

When launched in July 2014, the Honda Mobilio Diesel V received a strong response, even outselling the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in its initial months. However, the sales figures quickly dwindled as the market dynamics changed. I think the initial success was a fluke, and Honda didnt capitalize on it.

The Honda Mobilio Diesel V was part of Hondas strategy to tap into the growing MPV market in India. It offered a 7-seater configuration and a robust diesel engine, but it was priced higher than its main competitor, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. This pricing strategy seems to have backfired.
